Listen with your heart, you will understand.

    • maybe have it on each side of the screen? :O

I have S8 and I've found that the only time a curved edge screen has ever been arguably useful is on the Note 4 when it first debuted. That phone had a more substantial curved edge allowing info to be displayed on it as an AOD (e.g. the clock while you're asleep), or have shortcut buttons placed so you can access it while the screen is off.

The Edge curves in S6-S9 are too small to store any info or buttons on them. The only thing I've seen it used for is that tab that you can expand, only accessible with the screen turned on, but this can be done without the curved edge, as this app shows. So the curve in its current incarnation is a complete gimmick and very pointless. If you can name something cool that can be done with the curved edge that can't be done on a flat screen, I'm all ears.

      • Samsung's design philosophy is throw shit at a wall and see if anything sticks. This leads to devices loaded with completely gimmicky and very pointless things.

Then it's customers pay as much as an iPhone for it which is hilarious.

  • How handy

  • I prefer the Microsoft Launcher, but at least there are options 😁

Thanks Askhole, it will be good to have a few different launchers to compare for my Mi Max 2.

  • I just installed this on my S8. It doesn't add anything to your experience really. The favourite contacts is quite cool but recent apps doesn't really help because your favourite apps should already by on your home screen. Plus the calendar would be cool but it's about 8 swipes in so it's useless. Maybe I'm missing g something but it's getting uninstalled.

    • You're not missing anything. The original feature on galaxy edge phones was a gimmick to begin with to justify having a tiny curve to the screen, and that turned out to be absolutely useless. No surprises when people who use this feature on other phones have the same experience.

  • Is there a way that this didn't take up a whole screen when I open? Kinda feels like it defeats the purpose..

  • That thumbnail tho, smartisan nut pro?
