    $54.99 > $39.88 good price…

been using those $3 blue clay bars from ebay - does a good job/leaves the paint feeling like glass / wonder if these branded ones do a better job?

would hop on the $4 tyre shine though.

    thanks op!

Autobarn has $8 claybars, also blue. And in 2 grit levels.
    Also, protip:
Don't use the included lubricating spray. It's actually a decent instant detailer to clean bird poop and such, so don't waste it.

Instead, perform the 'cardinal sin' of car washing, and use a spray bottle with a drop or two of dishwashing concentrate in it.
The reason this is OK, is because claybar is DESIGNED to take off everything, that includes wax.
So having a formula that is designed to strip oils and wax is (for once) wanted.

Also, since you're spraying it, not sopping it with a sponge, the usual "It has salts and will get into cracks" is ALSO minimized.

Dish soap while claybaring is your best friend.

    • can you recommend a wax to use after the clay bar?

That depends how often you wax.
I wax weekly, because I enjoy the car care, not because I think its neccicary.
As such, I like the Meguiars NXT Paint Protection, it's thin but leaves a BRILLIANT deep gloss, it's like nothing else.

If, however, I was going to wax on a more normal monthly schedule, a carnauba wax is tougher, and I'm a big fan of how BowdensOwn applies.

If you like to wash more like seasonally than monthly, you want one with a Synthetic base, or a blend.
Once you start talking synthetic blends, you're into some expensive wax, and all of them are 'good', it comes to personal preference.
I like AutoGlym if i'm going to spend 'real money'.

        • I also use Meguiars NXT sealant… better than any wax I've used…

        • weekly? holy profanity!! Let me know if you have any cars for sale.

        • @gimme: haha, just a car nerd.
I meet up with mates weekly at a servo with a self serve wash and give it a wax. I find the few hours before bed very relaxing.

        • @spoonmugen:

So what other products have you used? Pinnacle, Dodo Juice, Angelwax, Reload, Scholl, Poorboys, Gyeon, etc.?

        • @kahn: DodoJuice is an interesting product line to use. Tried them once. VERY good, mainly in ease of application\removal; but…. not noticeably better than the Megs range I normally use, especially considering the price.

I've just used Wolfgang dwwp gloss 3.0 sealant and think it's done a brilliant job. Time will tell how long it will last for but from all accounts it should easily last 3 to 6 months. And a little went a long way

  • How did you find out about this one? Keen to keep tabs on specials and whilst OzBargain is great I'd prefer to keep an eye out myself as well

    And thanks OP
