    screw eBay

  • Not for me. Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

  • Works for me! Thanks op!

  • +1

    nope no deal

  • Is selling on eBay better than on Gumtree?

    • They both have good & bad points.

      • I reckon:
        If you're buying: eBay
        If you're selling: Gumtree

        • +3

Really? I don't ever sell on Gumtree anymore, people just offer 80% off what you put it up for and think they can haggle you down. eBay is so much easier, only sell on Sundays or free listings and you'll get way more money than you ever would on Gumtree.

        • -2

@doweyy: hmmmm I guess you're right. Ive never sold but from what I hear, eBay always sides with buyer if there's an issue

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:

I know that sounds like the case, but you've also got seller protection through PayPal by selling on eBay which helps heaps.

You have no protection at all on Gumtree and opens up unnecessary risks meeting people face to face to pay cash, it's really not worth it these days with the $1 promos on sundays on eBay.

        • @doweyy: interesting. I'll have to have a read on that. How much would you expect to pay on the fees on a$300 sale?

        • @doweyy:

Easier to be scammed on ebay, either way both have negatives.

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:
PayPal and eBay, probably about $40.

        • @doweyy: Wait is there free listings every Sunday? No final value fees as well?

        • @southaussiewithcosi:

There's not free fees on Sundays, it's $1.10 final value fees.

When I said free I meant the monthly free promo that pops up.

        • @doweyy: Which date during each month do they have the promo?

        • @southaussiewithcosi:

Sometime near the end of the month usually, it's targeted but is open to quite a few people.

        • @doweyy: And you're also paying a fee for the privilege of using Paypal.

        • +2

          @doweyy: 80%?

Shyte thats good, I normally get t0ssers offering 50%

        • @doweyy: Far too easy for people to screw sellers on eBay

    • -1

Selling is better on gumtree because if someone has an issue with your product then they have no means to get their money back if you didn't give them your full name, address, or they paid cash.

Also you don't get hit by 3.5% fees on paypal, and 10-11% fee's on ebay itself…

Just not as many people use the ebay owned gumtree platform.

  • The 50% off didn’t work but the free one did.

    • Opposite for me, unfortunately!

  • This one did work but not the 50% off one.

This is the offer that I received from ebay.com.au

Your eBay Free Selling Trial - Sell 10 items for free!
Pay no insertion and final value fees on up to 10 items. T&Cs apply.
    Expires 6 May 2018

    • Eyy, got the same one for 10 items too :)

  • Thanks OP. The link said targeted only but logging into My EBay seller centre showed the promo which worked.

  • sweet. thanks a lot. I just used up my other 3 items promo last week….

Weird that every campaign is marked as 'targeted', however i can accept promos every time…even though i don't get any promo emails

  • Offer worked for me

  • well…this is the least they can do after charged me nearly 1k this year.

  • rookie question but how can you find promos to accept? I clicked on the link and it just says the offer is invitation only

    • Are you new to selling? If so, you may be eligible for one of these offers

      • I've sold like 4 items so I don't think I'm eligible anymore. I just can't seem to find the promotions page without going through targeted emails like some other members

        • So you tried using this link and it said invite only?
eBay may be waiting until you’ve had a few more successful sales before they give you any special offers.

        • @headphonejack:

Yeah I tried the link and it said invite only. Hmm that could be it, I’m not too sure how eBay works with these special offers. It’s just that some members above have mentioned that they accepted other offers through the promo page and I’m just wondering where to find that

        • @tobi3421: Try checking under your promotional offers. Scroll to the bottom of this page and any promos you're eligible for should be there… hopefully :)

        • +1

          @headphonejack:

Gave it a go. Only shows the 40 free listings. Guess i just lucked out this time.

        • @tobi3421: Do you know if you’re eligible for the $1 FVF promo on Sundays? If you are, you could use that promo to make a few more sales and establish yourself as a trusted seller - then I believe ebay will start targeting you with offers such as this one.

        • +1

          @headphonejack:

yep I get the $1 FVF promo on Sundays. So I would normally just try and wait until Sunday before listing but I dont have too much to sell anyway. Just trying to do it slowly and build it up from there :)

        • @tobi3421:

I didn't get the Super Sunday $1 Final Value Fee Promo this Sunday after getting it for a past 2 or 3 months. Looks like they are trying to get you hooked, then suddenly take it away (like a drug). Too bad for them. I'm not going to pay 11% commission fees + 3% paypal. Rather try my luck selling on Amazon, gumtree, facebook or other platforms.

        • @Ziggy28:

Same here I just tried to accept the promotion and it said it’s expired and no longer available?!
Definitely won’t be paying full fees and will be looking at other platforms. How do you sell on amazon AU though? Seems to be only available to businesses

        • @Ziggy28:

Same here! Today was the first day I didn't get the $1 Super Sunday promo.

        • @aragornelessar: I feel like Super Sunday was offered to almost everyone, if not everyone. And that it's now just ended for everyone, like no one is seeing it today.

Will it be back on again next week? It feels like it was on every Sunday for the past three months, and this is the first Sunday it hasn't been on, so that doesn't seem good, that leaves me feeling like it's all over. It's especially annoying because I was just getting ready to list about 200 items, everything described and photographed. There's no way I'm paying 11% fees though. I guess now I'll just wait it out and see what happens…

        • @garworsby:

Yeah, hopefully it isn't the end… but it was too good a run. Anyone with half a brain would list on Sundays instead of any other day. I imagine there was a lot of 'lost' fees that eBay would've given up with the promo. I can't imagine eBay copping that hit for too long

I know my wife didn't get any Super Sunday offers until a few weeks ago - and she doesn't see it today either. So hopefully either it's off because of another promotion or there's a glitch preventing it being offered today and we'll see it back next week.

        • +1

I didn't see the Sunday promo today either, so spoke to live chat to see if I could get the link as maybe I wasn't targeted but they "confirmed" in broken English that there is no promo today.

        • Just an update on the Sunday promo. I spoke to another eBay CSR who said there is an issue with the promo today and he checked my account and I should have been eligible. He said that I can list items today and if I get charged any FVF then I can get in touch with them and they will reverse the charges for today.

So I guess it's still on but someone made a mistake today? Hopefully back in full force next week.

        • @AaronR:

Nice to hear! Hopefully that's correct and it wasn't just something they say to fob you off

Good thing you've got that in writing - make sure you keep the transcript! As in my experience, it depends on who you get as to how competent they are and how much you have to push and work you have to do to get the right result.

        • +2

@AaronR: Another Sunday and again no promotion. At this point it's actually a bit depressing, makes my heart sink.

I'm gonna try contacting eBay today and see what they say, maybe I'll also get a promise of returned FVF if I list anyway. Beyond that, I guess I'm just gonna hope for a new promotion in the future. They have that 'No Fees for 3 Days' thing every now and then. The more I think about it though, the more I just feel all broken up about it, heh. It's like, we had it so good and now it's starting to feel like it's really all over…

EDIT: I got onto eBay chat and they responded quickly, as though they had answered this before. They said: "Please be informed that Super Sunday Promotional Offer has been expired on 8th April. / Please be informed Super Sunday Promotional Offer will Start again soon. / I can't provide you any specific date, as we have No update now, we only know that soon this Promotional Offer will Start again."

        • @garworsby:

Damn. I’m wasn’t able to list everything I had when the CSR gave me a written agreement that they would refund any charges because I hit my seller limit. They raised my limit but now I am finding it hard to list items and accept the crazy final value fees.

I guess I’ll wait another week and see what happens!
