My windows key doesn't seem to be working on the Kogan keyboard. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I'm sure it's in some type of gaming mode (disable win key so it doesn't minimize your game) but I can't figure out how to disable it. Manual only describes gaming mode lighting.

Edit 2: I've figured it out - hold FN + the Win Key and it re-enables it. Would have been nice if they put that in the manual.

  • I have used this keyboard Yesterday and today and just have a couple of question for anyone with experience.

    1. The aluminium casing seems to vibrate and have a "tinny" sound when I let go of a key too fast. Is they any way to fix this?

    2. I really like the feel of the keys, my first mechanical keyboard, however I wonder if there is a way to lower the pitch. Not necessarily the make it quieter but it is pretty high pitched and I wonder if different key caps or O rings would change the sound?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Is it possible the casing is loose on yours? There's a few screws on the top edge of the top plate, check to see if those are tight. Mine has no reverberation/vibration/tinny sound. Just extremely loud clicks. Maybe try extending the feet that adjusts the keyboard angle and seeing if that helps, or trying another surface to put the keyboard on.

No way to change the pitch of the switch. Using o-rings will very slightly reduce the sound of the actual switch, but they are used primarily to damper the sound of the keycap bottoming out.

They are so clicky and loud that I'd be surprised if anyone notices a difference if they put on o-rings. I might test it later myself, I removed them from a G710+ when I bought it to make it sound louder and feel nicer. O-rings can ruin the crispiness feel of mechanical keyboards.

    • PBT keycaps tend to have a deeper sound when they bottom out. I've replaced mine with some spare PBTs and they're better. Not by an awful lot, but by a bit.

  • I hate hate HATE Kogan's/TOLL delivery. Package suppose to come today and I arranged for someone to be home then first thing in the morning a "delivery update". Now it's coming tomorrow and I need to arrange someone to be home. I've also been forced by the options provided to leave an authority to sign even though I paid the extra for postage insurance. (Null and void if they don't bother getting someone to sign I suppose). Pain in the butt!!! And yep I paid shipping too :(

    • Don't Toll have an option where you can have it delivered to the post office and pick it up from there?

They used Auspost for my delivery and I got it yesterday.

It was sent in just the retail box with no protection, was really carton damaged, opened, and had the Auspost eParcel slip with a corner of it inside the box (would have had to had opened the box to put the sticker in there). I didn't pay for shipping and got it for $25, maybe that's why I got the one with an opened damaged box.

The keyboard itself appears new and undamaged, but I couldn't gift it to someone in this condition :(

      • They sure use to. Not from a post office but from "partner" agents - I have picked up for a newsagent before. Wording now seems to imply I have to pick it up from the depot, and by the time I got my first notice it was after the cutoff to redirect. What I could do is not sign the waiver, wait for a card and see if I then had an option to go to the nearby news agent. I've never tried to redirect before a missed delivery. This is a lot of run around and hassle for something that should be simple.

I bought 3 of them. I really didn't feel like having to deal with the kids fighting over the christmas lights, at which point I'd just probably take the keyboard away for a week and stick it in a cupboard, and by the time they got it back they'd be over it.

Not instilling confidence that your carton was damaged. That's really dodgy.

  • Got mine today, I must say I like my Cherry Red keyboard more, but this one will be great to keep at work and annoy people with. I have already had someone tell me how fkn loud it is.

I wear noise cancelling headphones :D

It's so ridiculously clicky and gaudy with the flashing lights, I love it!

      • hahaha yeah. I am going to use a different lighting mode everyday. Good times.

      • LOL same reason I love it

    • got mine just now…. how the f can anyone use this in the house, you can hear it from the other side of the yard….i was gonna try some dampeners or something because its basically unusable in its current state if you live with other people

  • Christ, it's loud. Switches feel good. Not as good as Cherry blue, but they're good.
    Overall, a very good buy.

  • Spacebar is ridiculously loud when it bottoms out, any way to dampen the sound?

    • You can use rubber o rings's to dampen the noise when you bottom out a key. They're like $1 for 120 rings off ebay if you order them from China, moreso in the $5-10 range if you want them now.

Here's a timestamped video with a comparison. Though this keyboards switches will be a little louder lol.

  • My keyboard arrived today with a deep scratch on the top edge and hole in box where said scratch must have been made.

Not sure if it was sent this way or damaged in transit.

The question is… For $25…do I even bother returning.

Mine arrived today. It's so incredibly loud and bright. I love it! Can't be sad when using this keyboard!

  • how do you stop illuminating on the keyboard?

    • Manual says FN+INS to switch to Off and lit key mode.

      • Thank you.

    • INS + PS to turn off backlight

  • Thanks arrived last week, quality is much better than I had expected.
Really hate the font though, num / caps lights had to be covered too bright.

    Great buy

  • Mine finally came (Aus post lost it and it was in Canberra for weeks undelivered). Quality feels god esp. given price. Loudest thing in the world though - 0 chance of using at work (it's way louder than the existing ancient mech ones we all have here).
