Why not learn all the numbers?

    • Warum? Ach so, genau!

    Danke

  • German must be one of the hardest languages to learn….

    • +4

It's the hardest of the Germanic languages ;) In all seriousness, it's not too bad, according to my sister. Polish, Mandarin and East Asian languages might be a tad more difficult for native English speakers.

      • +2

Mandarin is hell. Damn tonal languages.

Was told i talked like a child reciting gibberish.

      • And Welsh.

Considering English has its root in German, its not too bad. English is pretty terrible for exceptions & crazy ough spellings and tense. Not to mention extensive slang.

The good thing about learning another euro language, is that it makes others a lot easier to pick up.

        • Everyone…..

Klingon is way harder, and don't get me started on Tamarian

What drove me nuts is that nouns could have gender… die newspaper, der pencil

      • +7

der pencil: got to be male, surely?

      • +1

        das newspaper oder die Zeitung

  • Thanks OP.

Do these apps actually help anyone? I remember trying some app to try and learn Vietnamese before my trip and all I could say was Fish and Chicken and Egg……..it didn't help me much - My taxis ended up taking me to the fish markets and left with a egg laying chicken.

    • Heard the story of a guy who wanted to practice his Vietnamese in Saigon on a Sunday morning when he got into a taxi. He wanted to go to church. Ended up getting taken to a brothel, "Xem Xem.. but different".

Strange they've used a picture of the Aryan master race for their logo… </awkward>

    • -4

Right?! Platinum blonde, blue eyes. I wonder if the audio is going to be based on Hitler's speech.

    Gute Arbeit!

  • Free is free so good deal, but after a few minutes of using it, I think I'll stick to duolingo.

    • +1

Duolingo is brilliant but I have found using other apps like this "fills in the gaps". I also use Busuu - it was so good I have a paid subscription.
So - Duolingo for sure but free stuff like this won't do any harm.

  • Danke OP. Much appreciated.

She's not as hot as the French one.

Rated 3+, I guess that means Scab is under age.

  • Cheers OP. Did German at uni but it has fallen by the wayside since I graduated. Maybe I'll be able to rekindle der Flammenwerfer.
