Please don't feed your dog this crap.

      Why

      • +1

Because it's full of poor quality rubbish.

The second ingredient is meat by-product, which comprises of feathers, beaks, hooves etc.

And grain, which is an allergen, is used as a filler.

Do you really think it's going to be premium ingredients at $2KG?

        • +1

          Agree
I've checked the ingredients of supervisor large breed adult with real chicken

1.meat and meat by products (chicken, beef, lamb and or pork)- how much meat, how much meat by product?

          1. Wholegrain wheat (filler)

          2. Barley/ corn/ sorghum (cheap fillers)

4.cereal by products (worse than 2 and 3)
Supercoat is owned by Nestle; they are more concerned about profits than the health of our pets.

Poor dog..if it can spit at you..

  • The pet food experts are at it again. With each negative comment on the nutritional value of this product, please feel free to quote your degree in nutritional science. My dogs have eaten Supercoat with Chicken for over 10 years (mixed 50/50 with canned My Dog) and are perfectly healthy, active and contented dogs. Stools are perfectly formed and don’t stink from 20 meters away. I am sure some people chose to spend $100/5kg to compensate for the lack of attention given to their pets.

My uncle drank and smoked for decades and lived a long and healthy life.

Stools are perfectly formed and don’t stink from 20 meters away.

Nonsense, dogs fed grain filled kibble have large smelly and gritty poo that Stinks and takes ages to break down.

This is because they cannot digest large amounts of carbs.

You've obviously never seen a raw fed dog's poo, breaks down in a few days, hardly smells and is much smaller in size.

      • You’re obviously WRONG! I spent the first 20 years of my life helping my parents train, walk and feed greyhounds who were fed 100% prime beef (my dad was a butcher). The smell in the car when they broke wind was nauseating and as someone who had to go into the kennel area every afternoon and scoop up the stools, they were neither sweet smelling or small. If we went away for the weekend, they certainly didn’t disappear!

Every dog I've owned has been raw fed and none of them farted much, if your dogs had this issue then they weren't fed a suitable diet or had other issues.

Regardless, dogs are carnivores and can't process large amounts of carbs.

That's not just my opinion but fact, as is that grains are an allergen and can cause numerous issues.

And no matter how you try and justify it to make yourself feel better, you aren't getting quality ingredients for $2KG.

        • @Scab: Dogs are now more omnivores as they have adapted after millennia of coinhabiting with humans. In fact their diet requires roughage and undigested fiber to avoid anal gland issues.

That aside, how can you neg a deal that is obviously a bargain, the whole definition of this site just because it doesn’t fit in with your philosophy - poor form on both counts!

        • @petersx:

Dogs are now more omnivores as they have adapted after millennia of coinhabiting with humans.

Nonsense, dogs have only been domesticated for 15,000 years.

That's nowhere near enough to change their digestive system, that takes millions of years.

And they have the exact same system as wolves.

Short digestive tract, pointed and sharp teeth for shattering bone and cutting flesh and an acidic stomach.

No omnivore has that, only carnivores.

Anyway, processed commercial food is only a recent thing.

how can you neg a deal that is obviously a bargain

          I did no such thing.

        • @Scab: if the experts can’t agree http://www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/are-dogs-carnivores… we have no hope! So each to his own for what works for them and their pets.

Apologies if that was not your neg.

        • @petersx:

          Interesting article :)

          As per the article

"Because meat is relatively easy to digest, the intestinal length of carnivores like cats is relatively short. Plant material is more difficult to break down, so herbivores have much longer intestines. And dogs, like omnivores, fall somewhere in between, with an intestinal length just slightly longer than the cat, so it makes sense that dogs might be classified as omnivorous in this issue."

Never mind the fact that the average dog is larger than the average cat.

Lions, with an intestinal length ten metres longer than dogs must, as per the article be omnivores too!

Simple test let the dog decide. Offer you pet some meat and some grains and see what it prefers. Pet dogs are dependant on us for their nutrition. If we offer them predominantly grains and fillers, they will gratefully devour them, not because they are nutritious but because they are hungry and have no choice.

Super coat is something I wouldn't feed my dog

        • @docians: I mix canned dog food (My Dog) 50:50 with the Supercoat from the advice of our Vet who insisted they get roughage that bone connective tissue, etc that is not digestible, fiber as such that can foods are lacking. Works for us and they get some meat cuts as a treat every so often.

If you offered most people a plate of meat or a plate of vegetables, I know which one I would go for 🥩 even though the vegetables would be better for me!
