Hi,

Long story shorted: my high beams do not work (but low beams do). I checked fuses and relay, they are ok. now i need to test the dimmer stalk but have no idea which pins are for high beams.

Btw, the Toyota US site has Owner manual to download for free but the AU site you have to pay to get the manual ? what the…

ask dealer to fax or email the workshop manual to you.

A public library might have a copy for you to borrow

This, most public libraries have workshop manuals.

    • Thanks, searching the Library of Sydney website yields nothing. will personally walk in one tomorrow to ask for it.

      • Could try the State Library too; they might be able to do an interlibrary loan with another library

Make sure you tell them that Kerfuffle sent you.

US should be fine for what you need.

    • Owner manual does not have wring diagrams.

Google should have something, just do a search for 2002 toyota avalon wiring diagram.

        • mmmmmm nah

        • Should be same as camry of that era also?

Have you tried new globes. It is possible to blow just the highbeams while the lowbeams continue to work.

This! Some globes have both function low and high beam.
Suggest you take the globe out and check.
And with google nowadays you could troubleshoot it without the need of a manual.

    • Thanks, I checked both globes and test the globe seats and there is no power.

      • Have you put new globes in to test or just looked at them?

      • You said you checked fuses and relay but did you try replacing them?

Sometimes they visibly look fine when they're not, and would be the most likely cause if both are out.

(Assuming you have separate fuses for low and high beam)

        • On my model, I have separate bulbs for left/right/high/low lights. Each has separate fuse. I replaced one fuse but does not work.

There is only one DIM relay for both low and high beams. So if low beams work, it's not the relay.

Last part to check is the dimmer switch and/or light control switch.

I found this wiring diagram for 2001~06 model Camry/Avalon etc vehicles…

    Good luck…

Heaps of Youtube videos on this issue.

    • Checked several of them already. Most problems in these videos are fuses/relay, which is easy to fix. Some suggest to replace dimmer switch but it costs upwards 100$ so I want to test first before buying a replacement.

  • Does anyone know where to buy a service/tear down manual for a 2012 Hybrid Camry? It seems the Haynes manuals exclude the hybrid models.
