If you're are not desperate for it, I suggest wait for when a new model is about to drop and the price probably will drop like the older version.

    • The price has dropped on these - from $99 USD to $49 USD

    • yeah ther older model is $59 @ JB
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/all-phones/google/google-da…

But the next one probably won't be out for 6 months.
I think I'll wait for the standalone units like the Oculus Go ($us200) & Levono ($us400)

      • Didn't know about the Lenovo - but found on the US Microsoft store for $199 USD 50% Off , only thing is you would need to use a shipping forwarder… ;)

        • oh I meant the daydream one, launches in mid-May

        • @supabrudda:

Ahh awesome - what a good read, so many new VR products on the horizon…

I didn't buy my own deal but bought the older model from JBHiFi for $59 online yesterday and it was delivered today…

My first go of any VR and it's pretty awesome with the Pixel 2XL :)

        • @urbancartel: oh good for you, I was eyeing those off.
does it let much light in?

i'd be interested to hear how watching movies/tv shows go. (or are they too uncomfortable)

  • It’s very pink

    • Coral! But "Fog" and "Charcoal" are available.

What are the differences between this and the ~$25 Telstra had for sale last year?

I had a read of this https://www.digitaltrends.com/virtual-reality/google-daydrea… main difference looks like field of view changing from 90-degrees to 100-degrees in line with Samsung Gear VR models

Also better cooling and additional strap to go over the top of the head.

My Pixel XL overheats in the old version so I'll try this one.
