These are the new version of the Xiaomi Yeelight bulbs which were released this year with a few new features. They're now 10W (was 9W), have 800 lumens (was 600) and have native Apple HomeKit support in the second half of 2018.

Like the previous version they have a massive range of colour combinations and equipped with WiFi that allows you to control them through the Yeelight and Mi Home app. They can also be integrated with Google Assistant, Aamazon Alexa and other smart home systems via IFTTT. They're great for setting mood lighting, flowing lights for that romantic night or beat in sync with music.

  • Thanks OP, picked up a couple 😊

  • There is no native homekit support as per below

The generation bulb will not officially support Homekit protocol since it's not equipped with a apple security related chip. However, the good news is:
    1. You can follow this post to make this generation bulb work with Homekit. http://forum.yeelight.com/t/homebridge-plugin/83
    2. You can wait for our next generation product which is being made, it will officially support Homekit (should be MFi certified).

    • Poster above is not 100% correct. They are not HomeKit supported. However Xiaomi is bringing HomeKit to ALL wifi yeelights (no need for apple chip) later this year. You can follow progress here… http://forum.yeelight.com/t/homekit-support-coming-soon/3437

Where does it say it will have homekit support? https://www.mi.com/colorfullamp

        • -1

Read my post again. No yeelights (this one included) have HomeKit support. However support is coming later this year for all wifi yeelights.
The OPs post and product description on LITB, Gearbest, banggood, etc all say HomeKit support which is incorrect.

@stirlo: But they wont be spending money to get homekit certified, that would raise the price of the bulbs to the likes of LIFX or Hue

        • +2

@asa79: read the link, they are going through certification now. Last year Apple introduced a software HomeKit certification which is cheaper which is why Yeelight is going for it now

  • These do NOT have native HomeKit support. Xiaomi has indicated that all yeelight a will support HomeKit in the second half of 2018 but currently none are.

    The product description is wrong

EDIT: lol beaten by 23 seconds posting this

  • No bayonet caps ones?

Yeelight haven't made B22 since joining Xiaomi unfortunately.

    • And you cant buy adapters at Ikea anymore

      • You can get the adapters through ebay and amazon though. Seem to work well with basic Philips bulbs. Used GU10 to E27 and B22 to E27.

        • Australian stores not allowed to sell anymore

        • @asa79: Any particular reason as to why? Is it a safety risk? I can't find anything online that explains…

        • @shamona1: Ikea rep said they can't sell any more because they can't get electrical compliance on adapters. Not sure of full details. Supposed to be similar for all australain sellers

Not sure of that means that it's illegal to use at home or affect insurance in case of fire

      • Check in-store. They've been dropped from the web site for months, but I picked up 10 from Tempe just a few weeks ago and there was still heaps left.

        • You sure your looking at australain Ikea site?

        • @asa79: Yep, the adapters haven't been on the site for the eastern States for months (mid-2017?), not sure about SA, WA though.
Here's the last time that they were indexed by the web archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20170712114912/http://www.ikea.c…

        • @newdad: Yes web archive because Ikea don't sell them anymore

        • @asa79: they've been deleted from the web site, but stores may still be clearing old stock

        • @newdad: AS stated above, Ikea have said they are not allowed to sell them.

  • Thanks OP I've ordered a pair :)

  • These were $69?

    • +1

Nah. All Chinese sites put an inflated RRP on their products. It's a very old marketing trick which surprisingly still works on some people.

    • $69 is the previous discounted price, I believe they were $169 before that. Buy, Buy, BUY!!
