  • Picked mine up just now from Southland, no problems.

    • Did you receive an email confirming that your order is ready for pick up? I didn't. Instead I received a cancellation email.

      • Yes I did..

    • I read this and feel so conflicted :). Have I been triggered :)?

      • Once I made the order, I have immediately received an email saying I should wait for "Ready for collection":

        we got your order.
Good news, your order has been confirmed.
Whoa there! Make sure you wait for our 'Ready for Collection' message before heading in-store to pick up your order.

  • Picked mine up right around 10. Glad I got in early to avoid the cancellation.

  • No issues. Picked mine up just now.

    • Did you receive an email saying that item is ready for pick up

      • Yes

  • It looks like some stores are honouring and some not - likely the stores that have been informed by management of the price error won't honour it.

    • Email came from:

      Kind Regards,

Online Customer Service | JB Hi-Fi Online Division

      JB Hi-Fi Group Pty Ltd

It means if a person collects before the store gets notified, he is lucky.

    • It looks like it might be a bit more complicated than that.
Some stores are renegging on commitments from "please hold one for me" - and internet orders.
Some stores seem to be honoring anything that was 'reserved' for pick up, but not accepting any new inquiries.
A friend I put onto this rang local stores up here (QLD). 1 store said no - price error - in stock but will not do $699. One store said would do it, but out of stock already. Final store said two are on hold for others, no new orders accepted at $699 - but if one of the "holds" does not go in today, they will call her and she can have it for the same $699. *That store I think has really a really good approach.
It sounds like the Head Office direction to stores was along the lines of "It's your (store MGMT) discretion on orders already placed, but price error - don't sell any more"

Looks like some stores have more integrity than others.

Went in just now to pick-up item and the girl behind the counter laughed and said your order has been cancelled. Asked to speak to manager and after some time said he is not available however head office advised us not to release your laptop and walked out empty handed - terrible service JB HI-FI.

    • +1

That's really poor. You should have insisted on speaking to a senior person or MGR. They should have someone in there that has decision capacity for this type of issue. Make a bit of a scene if for no other reason than to make a bit of a scene.

Which store? Name and shame man!

  • I just looked at my JB Store online Cart, and there is one still in there…Don't know how. I only bought 1, and the Price is 1 x Dell Inspiron 15 5000 15.6" Laptop [i7]
    $1,298.00
    x
    Subtotal Excludes delivery
    $1,298.00

    • That's the current price

      • tarken,
I know, I place an order for $699.00 and saids it has been shipped, after I received a phone call saying they will not honor the price. I am Confused :)

For those who missed out, there is this Lenovo ThinkPad E580 with similar specs for $959: https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge…
However, it does not have an optical drive, and it is a Lenovo.

  • Anyone who got one and doesn’t want to keep it. Happy to buy it off you.

    • why you got neg?

      • -1

Because it’s ozbargain people are butthurt after getting scolded from wives/gfs and find pleasure by negging people.

  • I went on my lunch break and got a call from the manager as I entered the store.
If I got there 1/2 hr earlier I would have got the laptop

Called Moore Park JB at 9am this morning and picked up for $699 at 9:30am, what a bargain

  • I went to JB in Hoppers Crossing around 11:30-12:00, I asked the guy working there to scan the price for me which came out to be $699. He gave me a piece of paper and asked me to pay for it at the check out while he grabs the laptop out for me. Just as I payed the manager came out with him and said we will have to refund you, you can't take the laptop at that price as they had a call from the head office and they told them it is a price error

    • You offered, they accepted, and they took your money. That is a contract IMO. You would be well within your rights to kick up a stink.

      • Yes, that what's i'm thinking of. I have the receipt clearly showing the price of $699. I contacted JB asking them to honor the price, if not I can take it to the ACCC or is there another institution?

        • May I suggest Consumer Affairs Victoria? I suspect there is something like a Sale of Goods Act they administer. They should also be able to give advice on your rights. The other thing that has worked for me - on a car warranty issue and with a laptop price - is posts to their Facebook page. The squeaky wheel etc etc.

      • The question seems to be whether or not they have "processed" the order in this case, M'Lud. When is a sale processed?

        • well they charged my debit card at 13:22

        • @Winston100s:

Shoulda walked out of the store. You payed, it's yours.

  • What's the normal best price on this?

  • Back up as $1298

Log in to your JB Hi-Fi account to check if they’ve issued a tax invoice. If they have, I like your chances.

Was trying to talk a friend through a problem with her Dell 13 7000 last night. It won't turn off and sits with a blank screen and fan whirring. Sounds like overheating issue (unseated heat sync or component) or bad motherboard. There's not even a pinhole to allow you to disconnect the battery momentarily. Accessing the battery requires the removal of the bottom plate. Yet another reason to avoid Dell. Even my cheapest Acer that I bought for the kids has a battery reset pinhole.

    • syousef,
Hold the Power Buttons down for about 10 Seconds and should turn off.

      • +1

Yeah thanks for the info, she tried that and it wasn't working. Died only when battery drained. Started loading Windows when plugged in and then went to black screen and fan running again. She's taken it back to JBHiFi and they couldn't fix it either so it's off to Dell under warranty.

Very bad that there is no way to momentarily physically disconnect the battery. Power button simply does not do that.

          syousef,
They will never learn, battey should have a hard reset…of some sorts. Bad Design. I would prefer a battery I can take out too.

          @error619:

Drives me insane that the damn machines keep getting smaller but less usable. It has become very hard to find removable batteries or optical drives. Laptops are turning into tablets.
