    Pasta/Noodle Maker - $253.20

    Cheaper to make your own

    • It's really convenient to have one. But I won't buy it at this price. There are cheaper brands

If u want really good pasta to make, grab OO flour and vacuum chamber sealer to chill the mixture.

U will see bunch of Italians coming after you

I've been using this machine since December. It is EXCELLENT, and it's a steal at this price. It takes about 7-8 minutes for fresh pasta to roll out from the moment you pour in flour, water and egg (if using). The pasta tastes like fresh, handmade pasta. I haven't used packet pasta since December haha

Yep I've got the previous model and I don't regret buying it, very convenient and easy to clean

      • Will the Phillips promotion work with ebay?

        • +2

Yes you should get a tax invoice from Myer

        • I wasn't sure either so I called Philips and they said online orders from here are fine.

      • I got one, I buy San Remo but was thinking of making pasta at home. Any tips for a first time user?

        • +1

I only use it to make noodles but the recipes that come with the maker is very accurate.

  • I too got the previous model, its the next best thing to hand making your own pasta
    Makes great lasagna sheets!!

  • I bought one from Costco but sent it back. I found the pressure to press the dough throgh the mould is so great, it makes pasta quite hot, something like half cooked pasta. It changes its texture. I still prefer the traditional manual one.

  • How is the 'Cleaning' experience ?

    • +2

Just leave the parts to dry for about 20 mins and most of the flour will crumble off.

For the disc, leave it in the freezer for about 20 mins as well and use the provided tool to clean it.

      • I just poke the dough back through the holes of the die and it picks out easily on the underside, I needed to use a wooden skewer for the Angel hair as the tool was too big. . I then put all the removable bits into hot soapy water and they wash easily. Will try the freezer if I get stuck on some of he dies.

  • Can you make gnocchi with this unit?

Can you put pre made dough in and just use the extruding part?

    Thanks

Unfortunately not. You will just have to make sheets to roll your own gnocchi or ravioli. I am aware there are some kitchen stand mixers e.g. Kenwood or Kitcheaid that can make ravioli with specific attachments.

I had a handcrank pasta maker and it was such a pain to use I left it in the cupboard and just bought fresh pasta. Apart from the pain of making the dough, rolling it out and using the cutters you needed to dry the pasta afterwards to ensure it didn't stick together. The Philips devices knead the dough and automatically extrude them when it is ready - the pasta is dry enough that it doesn't stick together. You need to stand with it to cut the lengths you want. You do end up with a bit of extra dough that you could throw out. I've used my hand crank machine to make spaghetti, angel hair etc with the leftover dough. It is not that hard to clean. At that price it is really worth considering. I went for the lower model because I consider the internal weigh function just something else to fail later on. The advantage of this is you get all the relevant dies - I had to buy the Angel hair one.

What I love is provided you have flour, eggs and water you are 1/2 an hour away from having fresh pasta whenever you want. You can also add in various types of flour to modify the recipe. I use the 00 flour and add in quinoa, lentil etc.

    • how much are the extra dies?

      • roughly $30 for two. YOu get the Angel hair and the Parpadelle in one set and the Ramen and Soba in another. At this price I would be tempted to get the latest machine and hope the weighing function holds together.

  • Excellent machine.

  • Does anyone know if myer B&M stores will price match their ebay stores?

    • They don't.

      • I suspected as much, thought I would ask though. Thanks
