  • Can someone recommend me a surf fishing rod & reel combo for a amateur?

    • whats your budget, mate?

      • $150ish

        • i have a Daiwa Crossfire 12" 7-15kg, and its GREAT.
the rod is very light but can handle some big power, and still is a bit sensitive.
currently around $65, i recommend it, cant go wrong for that price.
my next surf rod will be the PENN PREVAIL 14" but its a bit more expensive.

i have a penn 850 reel, which i love.. but it is a bit heavy.
im not sure what other reels are good that will fit in your budget.
usually cant go wrong with the good brands like daiwa, shimano, pfluegar, abu garcia, penn, etc..

        • Another option, 12" gomoku surf. Combo the sneaky 15% and ebay 10% will bring it down to $110

        • @pubo: Do you require a fishing licence these days? Do they even check?

        • @Ozjoey:
They check heaps in Sydney. especially on wharfs
sometimes the cops do it as well

    • 12' rod, reel & line… $69 Jarvis Walker Ultimate @ KMart.. perfect for the first timer.
      http://www.kmart.com.au/product/jarvis-walker-ultimate---12f…
Hooks etc are about the best for the $ there also.

  • Thanks OP for the heads-up on this.

  • Excellent, thanks. I'm after a Waeco CFX40W fridge and was close to pulling the trigger on eBay today.

    • Great fridge! We love ours :)

    • +1

Depending on % off but it still might be cheaper to buy it from Snowy's? They include a free cover.
I hardly buy anything from BCF just because Snowy's is usually the cheapest or I could price beat at Anaconda and get a further 10% off.

      • Cheers, I might just have to do this. This sale is rubbish it turns out. They have basically just knocked off a bit from the non member prices but the member prices are still lower the same as yesterday and it takes 2m to sign up. So Snowy is $30 cheaper and has the free cover.

  • It would be good if they started to introduce new models for there fishing range. I see the same deals in n out every sale

  • Seemed to be a flat 20% off in fishing. MOTackle has a 'SAVE15' promo running this weekend. A few of the items I checked were cheaper at MO's.
