  • Good prices. I paid US $125 expedited delivered yesterday for a 512GB WD portable black SSD and 64GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card from Amazon US.
The 512GB was/is pretty cheap currently and I apparently and unknowingly had some credit on my Amazon account.

  • they also have the old barebone NUC on special

  • Good for an iMac?

    • Yes, as long as you are handy with a heat gun or a very good hair drier as you need to remove the screen etc.

I am considering getting three, one for 2011 macbook pro, one for my Mac mini, and last potentially for my 2006 macbook pro still chugging along.

  • Definitely get two or more for raid 0

  • Bought too many SSDs

  • eBay says 2478 sold….

Here's hoping the order gets fulfilled this month….

120 GB option is cheaper here $42.18 with PULL5 code…

  • Damn, I just paid $48.60 for a 120GB Green on the weekend.

So everyone wondering if its going to suck because its the 'low end SSD' let me give you a reference point.

I've got in a cheapy laptop that is just a web surfer with a mechanical HDD, made a clone using this quick and easy partition manager: https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

Windows 10 1803 boots up significantly quicker, battery life increased slightly… heck its even made the laptop a little lighter.

So if its worth the upgrade for your general user bang for buck, (think about your mum's laptop type of thing), if you're a user that looks into read and write speeds and spreedsheets for performance of the SSD… then you'll probably buy something else.

My drive arrived today. I replaced the 160 GB (manufacture date 2009) mechanical WD boot drive in my old core 2 duo HP desktop. I measured the time it took from pressing the on button, until I could start a video in Youtube in Chrome browser, after migrating (cloning) the OS with Easeus Partition Manager.

    Original drive - 1 min 21 seconds (81 seconds).

WD Green SSD - 35 seconds.

I'm very pleased with the bang for buck performance boost this has yielded.

  • I bought a 500GB Blue drive, and noticed that the date of manufacture is October 31, 2017. Is it normal to get a drive with such an old D.O.M. date - that's over 6 months ago? The warranty doesn't start from this date, I hope?
