Samsung 2TB External Hard Drive @ $99 is back!

1350

Hey guys:

Remember this great deal? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36904

Well, they just called me from Harvey Norman to tell me that they have the Samsung 2TB External Hard Drive at $99 in stock again!
This is the Fishwick store in Canberra, but I guess every other store should have gotten them.

I am going right now and I'll post after I get it :).

EDIT: Well, I just came back, and I got it for 99, but it was a back order. The price was now 189!!! But as I could read from some of the posts, some of you were able to buy it at 99 dollars. But at least in Fishwick you can't :(.

Sorry if this cause any trouble to anyone.

  • I just bought two from Bondi Junction Westfield, they still had a pallet of at least 150 sitting right in the shop window! Plenty left if you can get there. Price was marked at $129 but I took in a printout of the HN website and they gave them to me for $99. Not sure what price they scan as.

  • Also plenty at the Sydney Martin Place store. There's no sign saying $99 and they are labelled with a $189 price. That might be why they're not disappearing quickly but it does scan at the right price.

  • Still plenty at the Martin Place HN..

  • Just went to HN Fyshwick, none in stock, but they are back ordering them at $99.

So I went to Domayne, and picked up a few for the price $99.

Hey Guys, If I format this with Fat32, can I use this with my ps3 to watch movies?

    Anyone here done so?

    Thanks

  • just back from HN Blacktown. Plenty of units on the shelves (at least 20 but probably a lot more). Sticker says $199 but ringing up at the counter at $99, no negotiation or anything necessary

  • +1

HN Nunawading have heaps they are not marked either but do scan at 99

  • Just got one at Hoppers Crossing. They were stickering up for the "Back to School" deals, where this drive rises to $129 (nothing like screwing over the parents…) Rings up at $99 for the moment.

For those that are interested in such things, the drive running, but not in sleep mode, draws about 6W in total, 2W in sleep mode - and transfers at about 21MB/s via a USB Hub. Format is NTFS by default. Formatting to Fat32 would be possible, but that limits you to a maximum filesize of 4GB.

  • Just picked one up at the store at North Ryde: there were quite a few left and were still ticketed at 199 (but scanned to the discounted price)

HN Greensborough still got them. Bought 2. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/jobski/2e414fb5.jpg

    • Thanks.
Got it from Greensborough for $99.
Still about 8 HDDs left on the shelf.

  • HN in Joondalup didn't have any of the 2TB or 2.5" 1TB in stock. In a rash decision (having suffered a puntured bicycle tyre and dropping my iphone on pavement getting to HN) ended up purchasing the Samsung 2.5" 640gb for $98. Now realise i've been rorted it is only $75 at MSY LOL. What's the chance I have of getting HN to match their price haha ?

This promotion already expired as of today. Confirmed with north ryde staff. Now selling @ $129…at their checkout and website

They must be mistaken… the Harvey Norman Half Yearly Clearance catalogue is on sale until tomorrow - 16/01/2011. The Samsung 2TB is advertised in it, so if it is in stock, they must sell it to you for $99.

      • The sales guy confirmed most items are until 16/01 however this samsung drive is until 14/01. Confirmed with catalogue they refuse to sell @ 99

        • That's bull…..
a click on the link at the top of this page shows "ends tomorrow"

I'd be dropping an email to Gary
          [email protected]

    • I just bought 2 an hour ago from North Ryde for $99 each.

      • Are there any more stock then? Why the sales guys lying? Keep it for themselves? Bloody idioits

    • Duplicate post

    • Just got it about 30 mins ago for $99 from Greensborough.
      Still on today.

  • Came to store refuse to sell for 99 that's the true. Waste tine and money. Thanks thr comments above…made me went all way. One hr drive. 99 wad not meant to happen today.

    • Well, why would you drive 1 hr to go to a HN store. Isn't there a closer one to try? Anyway, I picked up one earlier at North Ryde store for $99 as well.

edit: mate of mine just got back and bought 2 for $99 each.

  • Either the sales guy lied about what not. I called and even went to the store they just wont sell it $99. Perhaps maybe depends whom you talked to. I explained its in the catalogue and ends 16th. The sales just said was til 14th see terms and conditions…marked price is 199 on shelf. Dodgy store the North Ryde one. Unless you keep silent and hit your luck on the scanner checkout or something. Im pissed off about it. And im telling you the truth what I got told face to face.

they even know ozbargain and dissing about. Saying someone sold at @99 was not meant to, today. Thats hardly normal for ya. oh wells, I will wait til hdd price drop again…

  • Just bought one for $99, I asked sales and then went to check out and it came up. U shd have just brought it to checkout, it comes up.

    • I went back to the North Ryde store right on the dot 5:00pm. Saw another different sales guy, still wanted to check on me about $99 so I told him to check the half yearly catalogue, he said "oh you are right" and immediately changed the price tag on it and lead me to the counter.

There's apparently a back to school catalogue which shows $128

Earlier after lunch I went…the sales guy LIED bluntly.

There are some dodgy sales people at HN, that bloody f$% just lie to customers about 15/01 expiry and terms and condition about each store varies. What he wanted to do was hold on to the stock seeing it ends today and will sell higher tmr, that's why, he wants to do the boss a favour and lie to customers like a p#$%k.

He denied about the price. Bullcrap that is.

I got it now but still pissed and angry about it. HN sales are losers! However +1 Vote for OP.

Remember next time to take all evidence + catalogue hard + softcopy + website showing on your smartphone to prove them wrong and make them speechless. These b#$#$@# need to pay

Straight to checkout and if the price is not right argue with evidence and paperwork. HN is hopeless. If its not because of this I won't even walk in to buy anything in fact I haven't been to HN for at least a year until NOW.

I believe this sales guy also lurks on ozbargain and he knows well about this site.

I dare you to post here. You are such a disgrace and should be banned for life!

My persistent paid off well, although I had to make another trip and it was worth it to prove the sales guy a liar. Proven that ozbargain community tops and I appreciate people posting bargains here!

Moral of this story never believes anything any sales guy tells you. They are all liars, mention ACCC and false advertising and scare them off. They were being unethical first, so why should you be polite with them!? Do me wrong? I do you wrong as well!

      • Some of computer sales guys in North Ryde are fairly dodgy. I experienced once and will never go back there again. If I have to go back for some reasons because only they have stocks, make sure you have your printed catalog or evidences with you. Some of them just like to bull to everyone. I know of at least 2 of them there.

I got the Samsung 2T in Alexsandria today. Just pick it up from the shelf marking $199. Go to the cashier and checked out at $99. Nothing to say.

  • looks like HN Indooroopilly store still have them for 199

  • I got it backordered in Brisbane. They aren't expecting new stock for weeks :(

  • +1

Bought mine at Preston (VIC) on Saturday. Although there were none on the shelves (and not even an empty place where they would have been!) I asked for it specifically - they went to the storeroom and 'found' one for me, stickered at $199 like others have said. I asked was this the $99 deal and that was when they manually changed the price on the sticker. No fuss, but I got the feeling they were only going to honour the deal if you asked for it directly.

  • Mine is now a useless brick. After sitting on my desk for about 2-3 weeks its decided to not power on.

    • +1

Did you remember to turn the knob? Mine didn't work the other day, until I realised my brother had turned the knob all the way down when he was playing with the LED brightness. Turning it all the way down turns the drive off.

Otherwise, take the receipt in and see if HN can do a direct swap. They did that when I bought a netbook and one USB port was broken. No questions asked, I just showed them the broken port, they swapped it for a new one.

    • +1

This is why I purchased two and have identical data on them.

  • i backordered one and picked it up on the weekend :)
