  • Isnt the amazon20 code expired now? tried a few days ago and it told me it was. Still purchased it for $124 anyways as a bargain.

    • worked for me about 10 minutes ago.

      • +3

dam it ! so cheap these are going for about $299 in JBHIFI and Harvey Norman. Note has no milk jug and better to buy a new 51mm tamper as the one comes with is plastic. Kmart selling milk jugs stainless steel for $6 best and cheapest i could find. Also house have a sale atm for $20 delivered waste bins like the sunbeam bang bang ones.

  • +4

omg even cheaper than the $117 i paid for 2 weeks ago.

  • bam! done
    thanks

  • Wish they offered a discount for the grinder as well.

    • agree!

  • +4

I got one of these for $116.50 a week or so ago. It's a great little machine and a real bargain at this price.

    • May I ask you where?
I got in late for this deal!

      • Agree, great machine. I got mine for $120 about a month ago.

  • Won't add to cart OOS?

    • Edit - Try the red colour.

  • +1

change colour to red and still works in stock, black must be sold out

  • and white also in stock

    • No?

      • still stock on mine and working

  • Chrome/silver in stock but not in promo - so no 50% discount

  • Ozbargained. Of cos I missed it

  • +8

Amazing quality for this price. Got it for $117 a few weeks back as an early Mother's Day gift and wife loves it. Makes a great shot of coffee, is pretty quiet, looks great and doesn't take up too much bench space. Our Nespresso machine is now relegated to be used only for "quickies".

This also works out much cheaper than pods ($0.15 per shot vs $0.40 with pods) and is better for the environment. So if you make 4 coffees per day like we do, you save $1.00 per day so the machine pays for itself in less than 4 months. Win, win !

    • +1

      This guy OzBargains!

    • Ok, you’ve convinced me.

    • +1

Think of the savings compared to barista / cafe coffee. 60c per day for 4 coffees, vs $16 per day. In 10 days you'd have made your money back!

      • +2

As a true Ozbargainer, I can't bring myself to pay $4 for a "barista" coffee, so I based my comparison on Nesperesso pods, which I previously used. The coffee shots we are getting with this machine are better than most "cafe" coffees, and better than from the Nespresso pods. It does take a bit of practice to get it right (amount of coffee grind, tamping pressure, shot length, etc) but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. A bit like driving a manual car vs auto car, auto is easy but soon becomes boring to the enthusiast driver, whereas manual is harder but more satisfying when you learn to do it well (yes I drive a manual and love it ;)

        • wait a minute. You mentioned "shot length" … how do you do that? I thought it was just a 1-press thing and it just spews out a 30ml shot. You're telling me you can vary the shot lengths well, how?

        • +1

@pongky: Yes you can, read the manual! Page number 10 (actually 5th page in this PDF, not sure where pages 1-5 went)
          http://www.delonghi.com/Global/InstructionManuals/EN/EN-Dedi…
Programming the quantities of coffee in the cup
The appliance is set by default to automatically deliver standard
quantities. To change these quantities, proceed as follows:
          1. Place one or two cups under the filter holder spouts.
          2. Press and hold the button you want to programme (
or ). The appliance starts delivering coffee and the
other coffee button flashes to indicate that programming
          is underway.
          3. Once the required quantity of coffee has been delivered
into the cup, release the button. Delivery stops and the
light flashes to indicate that the quantity has been saved
          correctly.
          4. When the two coffee lights come on steadily, the appliance
          is ready for use.

    • How much better real coffee over Nespresso

  • +3

    Red still available!

  • +1

Is there a beginner's guide to using this? i.e. what type of coffee is needed etc

I bought first, thought about consequences of using it later

    • a true ozbargainer!!!

    • In the same boat.

    • +1

I bought it last month as well about $120 on amazon au, can't fault it for anything. Excellent machine, it's now just trying to find the perfect ground — bought Illy's from costco for $10 for 250g, much cheaper than coles/woolies.

Just buy any ground coffee, espresso is best I think. Very easy to use, if you're a rookie like me, you'll figure it out too.

  • for those bought two weeks ago you ve saved 14 cups of merlos that would ve costed $70

  • Why can't i get free delivery to SA? Edit: nevermind lol

  • Great machine, would highly recommend.
Took me a week but have been making amazing coffees at home now, don’t feel the need to go to the cafes. I drink at least 2 cups (and upto five some days) so this is amazing!!

    • What do you pair this with to grind your coffee etc?

      • So far, I’m using ground coffee from Coles, but thinking of getting a grinder as soon as they are on a good price. Do you have any good grinders on mind?

  • What grinder are people pairing this with?

    • I would also like to know where the OzBargain people's choice award for value grinder goes to

      • +9

        breville smart grinder pro

        • Yes not the delonghi one, I made this mistake

        • +1

Grinder costs more than the machine.

        • @serpserpserp: for some bizarre reason my nutri ninja is a better grinder than my thermomix, but even then ive been having to use pre ground coffee to use in my reusuable pods. Probably not worth the expense

  • dang… bought the white one last time, but i droll for the red one…

    • Tyler Kwok are you in Melbourne? I'd happily swap red for white if you are (and it's unused)

      • I have white and would swap with you! I'm in Tarneit. But mine's used for about 6 weeks since the last time Amazon discounted this. Since it's used, I can add $ your way in the swap?

        • Thx pongky but I bought as a gift for someone so has to be unused

  • Is this a capsule or manual machine?

    EDIT: found out, manual

    • +3

      It's a manual.

      EDIT - he found out.

      • I'd like to know if he found out.

        EDIT: he found out.

    • works with coffee bag pods though

      • Yea, it does but I don't think it's a popular style of bag pods, I don't think I've seen it on sale in coles/woolies

  • Shame only red is available, good deal!

    • oops nvm

  • SOLD OUT!

  • This item is no longer available from the seller you selected. Click below to continue shopping.

  • Just grabbed one in red and can confirm the promo for $20 still works! Great buy
Gotta get some beans and grinder now

    • It works pretty good with pre-ground coffee, we have been getting nice double shots using Lavazza Oro which is often on sale for $15 per kilo. You may get better results with fresh beans, but you need a decent grinder which will cost way more than this coffee machine.

      • Yeah considering just using ground stuff until someone spots a good deal on a grinder.

    • Bummer. Must depend on where you live. I tried the promo and didn’t work for me.

  • Thanks OP! just ordered the red one for the Mrs (10 mins ago).

  • Already have 2 Nespresso, bought this anyway!

  • got the red one :D

  • just a heads up, the coffee machine will not make 2 coffees at once. Even though there are two cups, the double shot one does not fit enough coffee and if you try to force the coffee handle bar in the machine packed with too much coffee, it either wont allow the water from the machine pass through the coffee, or it will start leaking from the sides. The steamer/frother is on the weak side too and allows a lot of water to come out. However if you don't mind making a coffee at a time, it gives solid results.

  • +1

Just got a red one - I put in my email to say when it was back in stock. Apparently there were some added - maybe DeLonghi added some stock levels…
I think there's some still available now.

edit: Also used the AMAZON20 code, worked fine.

edit 2: The stock levels seem to be a little weird, if it says out of stock try changing the colour to something other than red, then reload the page and then change back to red - seems to do the trick.

  • +1

Was out of stock a couple of hours ago (initially when I added to Cart it would come up with a nonsense page, before eventually on item page showing up as out of stock).

Added an email alert. Just received an alert and ordered it successfully.

Bit strange I could not use AMAZON20 again ("already used"…) but had used it on an order that I cancelled before payment stage.

Regardless, the $20 first purchase coupon code still seemed to apply and the total still came out at $104.50 (standard delivery).

    • We must've done the exact same thing!

    • Still full price for me, but I got the alert… ?

  • Thanks! I ordered a white one instead of red. Check out $104.5. Hopefully can get extra 5% from cashreward. That would be a real bargain!

    • +1

you mean just now ? discount is not getting applied for me. it will be a great present for my wife. can you please confirm?

      • No discount for me. I feel like he bought full price accidentally.

  • Black and white back in stock but not showing up at 50% off?

    • exactly same here?!?

    • Yeah such a shame other colours arent on sale also

  • Bought one for $117 a month ago and could not be happier. I wonder when Amazon will do the same for the Delonghi Grinder.

  • I bought a sunbeam conical burr grinder from Harris scare for $39 a few years ago. Use it every day..has been perfect. Search it up on here.

As for this machine. So close to pulling the trigger, but happy enough doing proper ground refills on my ole map machine (with the built in steam wand). Not sure what else this would give?

  • To those using smart grinder pro with this. What sort of grind setting are you using? I'm still trying to fine tune the grind setting and tamping pressure and unsure whether I'm getting a good result TBH.
I have tried setting of around 15 and even with minimal pressure it chokes the machine. Just tried 20 and it seems to work better but not convinced yet.

    • I use a no.10 grind for 9 seconds with the double shot scoop, produces a strong solid cupper. I temp VERY lightly.

  • Ok so I've missed the boat on this one I think, but still eligible for the AMAZON20 disc. So is $229 still a good deal for this product?
Is it worth me waiting for this deal to come round again? I'm not in a rush to get it for Mothers Day but ideally before Jun1

    • its worth waiting. it's been on sale a fair bit.

      • In the same boat too, no other current similar deals on this one?
