DiviPay Problems (Offline for at Least Three Months)

I thought it was about time we start a new discussion, So this is not lumped in with the ask me anything thread. So about half an hour ago Daniel sent out an email letting DiviPay users know that there is going to be a three month disruption while they switch over to a new backend provider.

I've posted the email as sent out to me below.

Update: DiviPay upgrade and re-launch date

Hi Redacted,

Due to the ongoing issues faced by our virtual card partner we have made the decision to permanently part ways and migrate our platform to a new and more stable virtual card partner.

Over the next 3 months we will be completing the migration with our new issuer. We are excited to announce that with this upgrade we will be able to deliver a product that is infinitely better than the last. Our new issuer will allow us to release a number of the features that have been regularly requested by our growing customer base:

  • Mobile payments for in-store purchases via Apple, Android and Samsung Pay
  • Greater than $1,000 loads
  • Real time transaction notifications
  • Custom transaction controls
  • DiviPay mobile application
  • Guaranteed payment acceptance every time

We will also be packaging up this migration with a brand new product and website design. Our designer is working hard to align us around our mission to keep you in control of your money. You can check out the new WIP dashboard below.

What does the migration mean for me?

  • Once the migration is complete, any funds left on your old virtual cards will be automatically transferred to the virtual cards provided by our new issuer
  • You can refund all of your funds from DiviPay at any time by closing your virtual card
  • You will still be able to login to DiviPay and view your account

Thank you for your patience whilst we rebuild the next version of our product. We are excited that we will be able to bring you the most sophisticated virtual card platform in the world in the coming months.

We will keep you updated with our progress and upcoming launch date, but if you have any questions in the meantime please live chat with us or send me an email directly at [email protected].

Best regards,
Daniel and the DiviPay team.

Then there's the screenshot attached to the email which I have posted here https://imgur.com/a/pdC3mz0 I'll be posting the previous emails below in reply.

  • First email sent on Apr 24 2018,

Subject: Important: DiviPay is temporarily paused.

    Hi Redacted,

Our virtual card partner is experiencing a temporary outage with their card issuing platform. Unfortunately this means that we need to put DiviPay on pause whilst they address these issues.

We expect to be live again in the next 7 days.

Please rest assured that all funds are safe. If you want to refund your available balance, simply close your virtual card and the refund will be processed within 5 business days.

What does this mean for me?
    * You will not be able to create new virtual cards
    * You will not be able to add funds to or make payments from existing virtual cards
    * You can refund any available funds from DiviPay by closing your virtual card

There's no question that this is completely inconvenient for you. We are incredibly disappointed that we have hit this speed bump. The engineering team and I are working closely with our virtual card partner to assist them in any way we can.

We will email you as soon as we are live again but if you have any questions in the meantime please live chat with us or send me an email me directly at [email protected].

    Best regards,
    Daniel and the DiviPay team.

Second email sent on May 1 2018,

Subject: Important: DiviPay remains temporarily paused

    Hi Redacted,

Unfortunately DiviPay will need to remain on pause as our virtual card partner’s temporary outage continues. We are waiting for an update from our partner and are likely to receive one in the next few days. We will email you with any new information as soon as it becomes available.

We remain confident that DiviPay can return with our current provider. However, we have relationships with a number of other card issuers that we can partner with. In summary, DiviPay is not going anywhere.

Your funds remain safe and if you want to refund your available balance, simply close your virtual card and the refund will be processed within 5 business days.

What does this mean for me?
    * You will still not be able to create new virtual cards
    * You will still not be able to add funds to or make payments from existing virtual cards
    * You can still refund any available funds from DiviPay by closing your virtual card

Again we apologise for the inconvenience and we are continuing to work closely with our virtual card partner to assist them in any way we can. We are doing everything within our power to get the platform back up and running.

We will email you as soon as we are live again but if you have any questions in the meantime please live chat with us or send me an email directly at [email protected].

    Best regards,
    Daniel and the DiviPay team.

Hi, Daniel from DiviPay here. Thanks for posting this. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. We intend to make a public roadmap available shortly so you can track our progress and the new features we are building. As per my email I am extremely sorry for the disruption, however with our migration we will be able to provide one of the most sophisticated virtual card products globally.

If the CEO starts an AMA thread he should make himself available to answer questions and concerns not just start a thread to spruik his underperforming business and then dissapear.

    • +1

Apologies for the lack of response on the AMA thread. As you can imagine it has been a busy time for us with the migration to a new issuing partner and we have been making customer emails and chat messages a priority. I will be re engaging with the post and answering any outstanding questions. Let me know if you have anything in particular you want clarrified.

    Pretty much a vaporware service…

  • +1

Have to pull the trigger to close the card now.

  • +2

Pretty good that mobile payments are getting supported now but quite sad that its going to be down for 3 months.

  • +4

it was a free service after all.

  • +1

I really like the product and think it has legs. Hopefully in 3 months time they'll come back stronger. For now though there is no point keeping funds on any virtual cards

    • Thanks, we look forward to having you back on the platform in a few months time.

      • "few months time."
Sorry do you mean few years…

  • Hey @divipay

    What's the eta on joining?

    • +1

Hi, we will be onboarding all waitlisted customers at the time of our relaunch which is set for August!

      • how does one find out if one's waitlisted?

        • Just signed up and there are about xxx ppl before me on the waiting list, you will get notified once you reach the top…

  • So whats going on with divipay? Aug is a bit far and what is other alternative method we can use?

  • Amazing that Divipay has a three-month wait yet their Business site looks immaculate, pricing is absolutely insane and well, you know where the three-months is going… $$$$$$$$

    • They have always been able to do a flashy website with more promises then they have delivered and agree that pricing is absolutely ridiculous.

  • Merged from Is DiviPay Still Alive?

I tried to join and it gave me a freaking few hundreds of waiting list??? Whats even more interesting was the next day I check again the number increased!?!

    • -1

      Clearly grammar is not

    • +1

I had the same question, apparently they are doing some tweaking and will be ready in August to take everyone on the waiting list.

    • +1

They are. They had issues with one of there suppliers. relaunching again in August apparently.

  • So August is now here and no update on DiviPay on when the return/relaunches supposed to be happening. Anyone heard any updates?

Edit: Apparently based on this reply here the re-launch date has now slipped to late August.

    • Yeah, this bloke has been appalling with punctuation since day one I would happily tender a bet that it does not launch in August.

  • Merged from Any Word on The Divipay Relaunch?

Anyone know when Divipay is going to be online again? Last I remember it was due for an August relaunch but we are in the middle of August and there hasn't been any update.

    • +1

I live chatted them and they said they will send out a "full update" this week. I really miss it and hope it remains free.

      • Same, looking forward to the update

    • BigTone, as I mentioned above it's now slipped until late August. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6233130/redir

  • Too many competitors now, the longer time you relaunch your website the more losing customers to your competitors. I am trying Xinja card (FX fee refunded too) and soon with Revolute

    • Divipay holds the monopoly of virtual cards in Australia though, Xinja card doesn't offer anything like that. Revolut is struggling as well, there were due to launch in Australia in Q1.

      • BigTone, Yeah Divipay is the only provider I'm aware of here in Australia offering mass virtual cards.

Revolut is struggling as well, there were due to launch in Australia in Q1.

Yes and also has slipped a few more times since then. Here's hoping Divipay does manage to get the re-launch done by the end of the month and doesn't slip again.

    • +1

To be fair Divipay is promising apple and google pay support which will win back customers. I'm pretty sure you can't have multiple xinja cards either?

      • hogwarts, there's plenty of Apple Pay and Google Pay banks available that are decent. Correct you cannot have multiple Xinja cards and they do not offer a virtual card option let alone one that lets you generate at will and expire them when necessary. and let's hope you don't have to purchase Divipay Business offering to get Apple Pay and Google Pay.

    • Too many competitors now, the longer time you relaunch your website the more losing customers to your competitors.

T-man, There's not exactly any competitors in the virtual cards space but in the new banking platform offering we are like up to 8 now.

      • -3

Reading your comments discussing Divipay, are you all talking in code or purposely trying not to make sense? cannot really understand what you're talking about…

        • He is making perfect sense, not sure what you're on about

        • -2

@BigTone: is it because I am not Asian I cannot understand? (confused)

        • @XioamiGuy: I never called you Asian lol

      • +1

but in the new banking platform offering we are like up to 8 now

8? Really? You're talking about the likes of Revolut/Xinja?

        • 8? Really? You're talking about the likes of Revolut/Xinja?

Yup. Seven if you wouldn't include DiviPay in the list but I do based on what they're planning on releasing for the new platform. If you're interested I can clean up my spreadsheet for publication.

        • @tonyduffe: Yea I'm curious actually.

Can you share the names of the other ones?

          • +3

@illumination: Only just saw your comment. Kyle who started this thread keeps a spreadsheet that is now public which is available here we are now up to 12. Feel free to join us in our chat room linked in the spreadsheet as well.

Any updates at all? 5 days until the end of August

  • +2

    Email today :(

Important: DiviPay Security will remain inactive until 2019

    Hi tomclancy,

I am writing to let you know that there will be further delay in relaunching the DiviPay security product. We anticipate the service will not be live again until early 2019.

Integrating into a new provider has come with a set of both commercial and technical challenges. These challenges have been compounded with the introduction of additional third parties whose services we require in order to relaunch the product. Unfortunately we are currently constricted by the timelines and priorities of these parties.

    What you need to know

    • The DiviPay security product will be relaunched early 2019
    • The DiviPay security platform will remain open to view transaction history
    • If you still have funds remaining on your DiviPay cards please contact the team at [email protected] to organise a refund.

Thank you for your patience over the last few months. The team remains optimistic and are working in close collaboration with the multitude of third parties to get the program live again. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions, concerns or comments.

    Best regards,

    Daniel and the DiviPay team

    • Yeah does not surprise me one bit.

      Was expecting it

    • +1

      That is so sad. Daym.

    • Their biggest problem that they should be worrying about now if they're actually going to have anyone that wants their product in 2019.

      • Provided there's no viable alternative, there will probably still be people wanting their product

        • Personally DiviPay has been a total mess since the beginning I don't know if they going to be able to re-and still some trust that they can offer a stable product. But here's hoping we see something by the end of 2019.

I'm also in the early testing of two new products that have virtual card support at the moment.

        • +1

          @tonyduffe:

Personally DiviPay has been a total mess since the beginning

I was using DiviPay for months and it was great. Never had a problem. Their Chrome extension was a bit clunky but that was only released for beta testing a few weeks before they went offline.

        • +1

@tomclancy: Then you haven't been through the multiple iterations of this product. This company has failed to deliver multiple times and pivoted multiple times.

The latest iteration that you're a fan of and myself as well, Could've been a winner but unfortunately I feel that other entrance to the market are going to eat their lunch before they can re-launch in 2019 sometime.

        • @tonyduffe: yeah, I'd agree with you regarding the relaunch could well be too late. I wonder why there aren't companies already in this space? It's not exactly a new market. Plenty of demand for such a service, even with a 1-2% fee

        • @tonyduffe: What is the other virtual card product apart from Velocity Global Wallet

        • @BigTone: The other two that I mentioned are currently operating in stealth startup mode. So I have nothing to share publicly other than what I've already mentioned and the only publicly available alternative am aware of (Velocity Global Wallet).

  • Game over guys :( what's the replacement for Divipay now?

    • At this stage the only thing that's publicly available is Velocity Global Wallet and that is only one virtual card at a time. But I guess it does depend on what features you're talking about.

      • Virtual card that can be reloaded with funds from another credit card and/or bank account without fees and used as a method of payment on a PayPal account?

        • +1

My statements above stand. Can't use a credit card to load funds for free and there's fees, they're the only platform publicly that I'm aware of that have a virtual card option.

  • +2

Disappointed to hear that DiviPay won't relaunch till next year. Anyone got any tips for maximising rewards points when paying the ATO?

  • Bump - early 2019 - any update?

    • +2

      It's dead, Jim.

    • +2

I would agree the product is pretty much dead, They have once again pivoted to a business only service and all mention of the personal version removed a couple of weeks ago.

  • Any updates?

  • Seems like it's online, but I can't seem to login with my details anymore. Also looks like it's open only for businesses?

    • +1

Seems like it's online, but I can't seem to login with my details anymore.

You should still be able to login here

Also looks like it's open only for businesses?

      Yup see my comment here

I got an e-mail reply after asking them about it.
