    Orbi is arguably the best of it's kind. This while being a slightly lower spec model is still great.

    How good would this be for 2x HD Network video cameras which constantly stream and download to Network video recorder? I get very low frame-rates when viewing the stream.

      I don't know the answer for this question, but if you take your phone/computer next to the camera's and do speedtest.net what speed do you get?

      Basically you might be able to get away with a 10 buck xioami adapter to your current router.

    Is this a range extender or ethernet over power with wifi?

    I read through the CA description and it does not give a clue about how this delivers the comm's.

    Also, what is the Orbi router? Does this replace an ADSL router, or is it used for NBN. Does it replace the Wifi out of your existing router? or is it all of the above and a management device for controlling access points in the house?

      Uses a dedicated 5ghz channel for the extender mate.

      It's a mesh wireless system, and has a dedicated channel for backhaul between satellites.

      The Orbi router is, as it says, a router only. It is the central controller access point that the satellites talk to over their dedicated radio channel. You will still need a xDSL modem. It is intended to replace the Wifi on your all in one ADSL modem/router

      If you have a small place and good Wifi, don't bother. if you have a larger house (or problematic coverage) it can be a good solution.

      I use one in my old double brick house - router in the centre of the house and a satellite at the front, it manages to go through 2 sets of brick walls and I can still max out my 100/40 NBN on clients on the satellite. I'd tried a range extender and it was hopeless , but this has been good for me.

    I spent an hour this afternoon setting up the system. Just to let anyone else looking to purchase, this is not as easy as they make out. (nb: I have 30 years IT experience working on large corporate networks)

    I already have one of the other Netgear plug in the wall, range extenders, which was much easier to setup. My plan was to replace this with the orbi.

    The Router, is really straight forward and installation is very smooth. It is the satellite access points that are difficult.

    If you follow the app wizard, you first up the access points before you go through the WiFi setup. The satellite would not connect automatically and so I had to press the sync buttons on the router and satellite. After 3 or 4 attempts it connected. Then after the WiFi was configure, it lost the connection to the satellite. Even though the satellite had the blue ring, indicating it had a strong connection. The app showed 0 of 1, devices attached. Again, it took about 3 or 4 attempts to sync before the satellite had it's blue halo and the app showed that the satellite was connected.

    After it was all setup, the signal strength was fantastic. It looks like it will be rock solid now that it is up and running.

    It is just a shame, that what should have taken 10 minutes, took an hour and connections just didn't work first time.

      For what it's worth I had no such issues. I did set up the satellite right next to the router however and moved it to it's location later.
