Hi everyone
I am working in a company and I am on salary what I am entitled to when I travel for work and stay away from home for 5 days and how overtime is calculated in this case

Edit:Employment will be regulated by the Professional Employees Award 2010.

For those who asked about the award.

Thanks

What does the staff policy manual or hr department say?

No mention of award, job role or even what sort of industry you're in. And you expect people to actually answer your question?

    Yeah, nah

Read your contract and ask your boss.

  • Generally speaking, no one can answer this question for you as it is company specific.

If you are a salaried employee you generally won't get paid overtime, though of course in some cases you might. But you will likely get an accommodation and meal allowance. Your company should have a policy that details what this is.

If you are non salaried you will likely have an award agreement or contract that also states this information. You will likely get paid overtime in this instance.

  • Punctuation is (not) your friend

  • Depends on your contract and award. At a minimum, I would expect travel expenses (accomodation and transport) to be paid for. Food varies by company - some pay a flat per diem, others re-imburse based on receipts provided.

Overtime - doubt you'd get any overtime for travelling or being away from home, but check your contract or award and see what it says.

  • here you go That's all anyone can probably help with, unless someone works in the exact same company as you.

No overtime. Work should pay for your flights/taxi/accommodation. You should get an allowance for meals and incidentals.

The ATO publishes a document on reasonable travel allowances

  • What did your boss say?

Different companies have different policies. If you travel often then get a corporate card and use the company expense management system.
Make sure you keep receipts. In general most companies provide an allowance of ~$70 ish for the day so don’t have a massive lunch and if you fancy a beer with dinner, ask to pay for that separately.

    • I would say in general most companies provide a per diem based on the ATO guidance. Which is $128.70 per day on top of accommodation. Most companies would also reimburse travel (hire car/taxis).

A new member (profile) just to ask a question this is specific to your employer only?

It is far easier to sit at the keyboard, type in a few words and expect other folk to do the leg work for you.
