  • When is this coming to Melb?!

  • Too cold now for swimming

  • Has anyone tried this?

    • I tried it today but by the time the 2:00 minute countdown (to connect you with an uberPOOL) got to 0:05, it still hadn't sorted out my trip nor told me to walk anywhere & the bus came so I gave up :P Didn't get charged.

      • I see. I tried this once 2 years ago for kicks when I was in Mexico city on holiday and it was … Ok but yeah I didn't do it again after that. The driver turned up quickly but his car was too cramped for 5 people and the guy in the middle seat kept manspreading, it was really (profanity) annoying.

And honestly, regular uber was really cheap anyway so I shouldn't have bothered.

        • +1

I guess they got a bit of customer feedback about manspreading, so it won't happen in Oz -

Each UberPOOL car will only take a maximum of three passengers, leaving the middle back seat vacant. When booking a ride, riders will need to note if there's an extra passenger.

        • @affable: haha nice

  • Tried this today. Really pissed off. Pick up location given at last minute and time allowed was not enough to get there with 2 major roads to cross in peak traffic. Driver arrived 1 minute early and didn't wait. Phoned me, I said I was at the pick up point. he said (vaguely) he was further down the road. I set off immediately only to see him driving off. The ride was cancelled and Uber charged me $7! The time between the pick up time and the driver leaving was less than 2 minutes, and the time allowed to get to the pick up point was clearly not enough. Uber then froze the app so I couldn't get another ride! Ended up using Taxify which I'm finding more reliable. I know this kind of system can work, because I used Lyft Line extensively in US. So long Uber I've deleted your app :(

    • Gutted. I was just in the US & used Lyft Line heaps too — worked a treat & was much cheaper as well.

Something I've noticed is Lyft Line in the US vs uberPOOL in Australia are implemented differently in that with the latter, you have to walk at most a couple of blocks to connect with the driver: https://mashable.com/2018/03/28/uber-pool-sydney-australia/

  • Free trip home from vivid - saved 30 bucks. Thanks Op.
