  • rewardpay using amex explorer- w/ 2.64% surcharge
    St. George visa

  • Qantas Premier, but only for the opening 75k bonus points

  • Use divipay and cop the mastercard fee

    https://www.divipay.com/

Note, haven't done it myself yet but intending on doing so this year.

    • Divi pay is off line for a few months

Did it last month. Awaiting to see if $5000 of payments will make it through to points.

Pain in the arse that they limit the payments to $1000 at a time. Inclusive of fees, you can only pay about $995 at a time + 3.98 fees approx.

And add to the fact that they're offline for a few months.

      • yes checked - apparently in queue with 600+ applicants before me !

      • Also, confirmed today. Divipay purchases on my Westpac cc swept over at the normal rate. $3.95 in fees (deductible) for close to 750 points. No brainer. Now just to wait for them to come back online

  • My tax is deducted from my salary automatically. How do I earn points now? Do you pay to ATO directly?

    • you have an abn, and pay your taxes to the ato directly as a business entity.

      • I wonder if there is anything illegal about setting up an abn solely for the purpose of paying tax to the Ato

        • lol. Unless your boss lets you invoice him instead of PAYG, I don't think an ABN can achieve very much.

  • Try Rewardpay or B2bpay? Higher fees but tax deductible. By the time you pay 2.5% roughly - tax deductible fees, you're at about 1.5% fees.

My best cards are about 1.25 points per dollar so you're realistically just paying for points at 1 point per dollar spent. Unless you can leverage it to seat upgrades or J class travel, not much point.

    • i just need to pay my own personal tax - not business involved. Is there any way around that?

      • Not sure if rewardpay needs your own Abn? It may not so give it a go trying to set up an acct.

    • Do you need a business credit card?

If you're paying the ATO debt with iTunes gifts cards then any point earning credit card will do :)

  • Any ideas guys - saw a thread about buying cards from woolies using amex and use that to pay ATO to earn points. Assume i can do that???

    • pain the arse as their eftpos cards are 106.95, and the deductibility of that fee would be questionable. you would have to buy quite a few to pay off a sizeable tax bill as well.

      • Yeah - was happy to do the hard work to buy number of them over few days but 6.95 per $100 is way too much

The popular Visa 1 cards have been blocked by the ATO for several months now

  • Merged from Credit Cards That Let You Use ATO Payments for The Signup Bonus?

I just did my tax return and apparently I owe $3k (yikes!)

Are there any credit cards that consider payments to the ATO as eligible transactions for the signup frequent flyer points bonus?

I know Bendigo Bank and ANZ don't allow this (currently both have 80k Frequent Flyer points bonuses), are there any others that do?

    Cheers!

  • The safest thing is to once you find such a cc, do an online chat if possible to get it in writing if they say ‘yes’.

Bumping this as I'm interested in applying for a card as I have a 5k bill to pay to the ATO.
