2018 "We Will Remember Them" Commemorative Medal $10 Delivered @ Macquarie Mint

76

I was looking for the latest commemorative medal and found this.

Could not find it at other sellers. Has only a silver finish but seems to be a great commemorative medal for my collection as well as just $10 with shipping.

Loved the design and packaging.

Hope others find it useful as well.

Where's the bargain? Was it ever more expensive? It's not real currency so has no inherent value.

It's not real currency so has no inherent value.

I bet I could walk through your house and point out at least five items that have no value to me, but yet you paid money for.

But your point still stands, this isn't really a deal if it's just the normal price.

    • Did you know there is a legal 25ยข Australia coin?

  • +3

    What's the normal price?

  • +10

Sorry but this isn't a coin as it has no face value and it isn't legal tender in any part of the world. It is a medal or medallion. See for example https://www.singaporemint.com/coin-medal-difference/

$10 is the normal everyday price of these Macquarie Mint medals and they have little value as collectible items. Macquarie Mint usually advertises them through unsolicited household junk mail.

  • not a deal - belongs in forums

  • How well do these appreciate? If it doesn't, it's as good as a paperweight memento. Do they donate profits from sales of these to an ex-serviceman fund?

It's 99.9% pure silver. Must worth at least something.

    • 99.9% pure silver FINISH (is it the same as silver plating?) . WP user estimated less than $4 silver content for a medal with 50% silver content, so this one has 10 cents worth of silver?

    • If it was 99.9% pure silver it would be worth $10.

  • +1

Not a bargain unfortunately. Product is not worth much and no discount. The same deal every year.

    1. Their advertisement and physical flyers are purposely designed to mislead consumers as much as they are allowed to.

    2. This "scam" has always been $10.

  • +2

Like others have said, basically a scam.
No value, regular price and misleading ads.

When you can get a 1oz silver coin that is also legal tender for less than $30 it makes these even more of a rip off.

  • Agree, with the above… Rubbish product, has no value, 80,000 is HUGE mintage, doesn't say anywhere how much silver in it, not a legal tender…
