  • Bad reviews, that's it.

      3.8 out of 5 isn't bad.

Most of the bad reviews are from hardcore woodworkers who are by natured perfectionists.

if the base is completely bowed send it back to Amazon for full refund.

If it's not then Five minutes with some sandpaper to get the Blade razor sharp and the base completely flat.

      Well worth it imho

Agreed, best Stanley planes are certainly from a past era and found in garage sales / deceased estates, but this is a great price for a current unit and could be a good plane if you are willing to do some fettling.

Most of the bad reviews are from hardcore woodworkers retirees with a garage full of festool who can barely hammer a nail straight but spend their days online telling everyone else that you can't use any tool that cost less than five hundred bucks.

i have one, they are great when tuned …… sometimes wonder if reviewers know what they are doing ……. it’s a timeless design and has stood the test of time because it works.

      • Thank you for your review. Have bought one on your recommendation.

    • This is a classic design. People buy old ones for restoration.

I have this - it's fine. Paid $80 for it and thought that was a bargain.

    • I had it in my cart and was going to buy it at $50 aud delivered last week, glad i waited at this price this is a steal.

I got charged $35.85 on my CC so a little cheaper

  • Got one! Been wanting to get a hand plane for ages. The ones sold locally are generally out of my price range.
