  • Wet Finger Recognition

Does the phone wink at you?

    • The unlock sound is…

      Bow chika wow wow!

  • Forgive my naivety, but this doesn’t have band 28 does it?

    • doesnt seem so

      • Does that mean it'll be slower on Telstra 4GX?

        • I suppose it is a bonus if it has B28 for the sake of Telstra 4GX. Since I would prefer to use other operators rather than Telstra, I suppose it would not matter to me. Am I correct?

    • nope or australian warranty ….. the zte axon 7 got down to $299, back to $360 has all australian bands and 2 years australian warranty . still on android 7 though 8 was promised …. i think there are enough phones with all the australian bands and some even with local warranties that some of these deal need to step up a bit.

i think unless it has all aussie bands and android one i wouldn’t buy another handset ……some might need nfc also.

  • Damn, that's a nice phone - I wish it had Band 28 and a bigger battery.

  • Doesn’t seem soim2 can be used microsd
    Anyone know

I bought this phone last time it was on sale - can confirm no Band 28, and it does NOT fit a micro SD card (the sin tray will only fit two nano sims.

A great phone - great specs for the price and NFC is an extra bonus. Only thing I don't like is the ROM on it - it's a bit clunky, and the English translation is a bit iffy in places. Was spoilt having a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 before this one … seriously miss the one handed mode that the Redmi had!

Oh and if you buy this, order a case immediately (e.g. from AliExpress)… the smooth back on it is an absolute pain if you put it on anything with a slight angle, it just slides right off!!

    • Thanks

    • There's a couple of decent custom roms for this phone on XDA, I'm using lineageOS atm and it's soooo much better

nice phone, but will ZTE survive from US sanction and provide support for their product?

    • It is not whether it will survive, but looks like it will now as the ban has been transformed into a fine.

The question is that can this company be trusted for what they did.

      • Is being transformed, not "has been". Whether it will succeed and how long this transform will be is still uncertain.

    • +2

ZTE own half of Nubia and their sanctions are being lifted.

      • these issues are still in play

        • The outlook so far is positive. With Nubia being only 49.9% ZTE and 50.1% Nubia it will be interesting to see what impact (if any) all of this will have.

Can someone please fill me in on this ZTE sanction?

      • ZTE was caught illegally shipping U.S. goods and technology to Iran. As punishment they will not be allowed access to US goods and tech. E.g. qualcomm chips.. Google services.

ZTE are not completely honest about Camera specs (check my deal post of this phone with a supplied video), they claim OIS but that's not true. You can toggle software stability mode for video in 3rd party camera apps, so there's that.

All in all this is probably the best specced phone for the money without B28.

    • Are you talking about that horrible auto focus spasms on the video recordings? Which apps are you talking about?

      • No no, actual optical video stabilisation. It doesn't actually have it, despite what ZTE says. It will do software stabilisation instead, which is okay if it doesn't make your videos blurry.

Video quality is pretty decent for what it is, XDA and available ROMs' have improved things a lot for this phone.

        • Yeh I'm using the LineageOS rom and it's running great.

Can you let me know app your using for your videos please?

        • @safety1g:

          OpenCamera.

Bought one last time for my brother, good phone but NFC did not work. Asked for help for either a quick fix or refund as it was within timeframe and got a cold reply for going to the manufacturer.
I replied by wanting a refund and never heard from them again.
If your phone works then great but do not expect decent after sales service.

If you can live with 4GB (kidding, no one need 4GB let alone 6 on a phone) Sharp Aquos S2 has Band 28, IGZO panel and micro sd. ~$215 Joybuy

    • Pretty average camera on the sharp from what I've seen. Not sure about this one. Otherwise yeah fully agree very few people need 6gb of ram!

      • +1

Sharp Aquos S2 camera is above average. It's as good as the HTC U Ultra. Took a few photos with the default settings on both phones and the Aquos S2 looks sharper.

        • +1

          Because it's a Sharp?

    • the big ram numbers are a selling point to try and differentiate from the next phone on the shelf….. which apps need 6 gb ram …..not android 8, so what apps ontop of the OS ?
most are under 200mb each and if you have then running in the background they suck up your battery or your data allowance anyway ….. check what you run and what you need….can easily do it on your existing phone.

    • I think that price on the Aquos isn't available any more.

  • should be $25 given ZTE has about 3 months left, if that..

    • +1

Many guys above mentioned ban lifted, yours is old news.

  • Deal appears to be over… or do you need to apply some code to get the us$169 price?

  • It is US$199 now.

  • Good phone:

    1080p
    Micro SD slot
    3200 maH battery
    Fingerprint sensor
    Headphone Jack
    NFC
    Quickcharge

    pity about the band 28
