Here's a $5 off $25 Spend code from Shipster if anyone wants to combine it with this free delivery promo to save a bit extra :)

    H6D6HDQ8Y4

For anyone else, you can sign up to a shipster trial and it'll give you a $5 Deliveroo code in your email the next day.

    • Thanks for the additonal info!

    • Nvm

    • is this one use per account ?

      • If not, I'll be doing 4, separate, concurrent burrito orders for the family.

  • +1

I assume you won't be earning Gomex reward points when you order from Deliveroo?

  • This is kind of an extension to this deal, with GYG also having Deliveroo specials:
    Mini salad - $9
    Mini burrito - $9
    Mini cali burrito - $10.10
    Mini enchilada - $11.20
    Mini fajita - $10.10
    Mini burrito bowl - $9
    Mini fajita bowl - $10.10
    Mini nachos - $10.10
    Mini nacho fries - $10.10

    • Had the mini enchilada the other night. Did not seem mini at all.

  • Is their food any good? I've never had it and I've just heard it's kind of overpriced for what you get.

    • +1

I think the nachos are worth it as long a you're not adding things on. They are $12.50 and are a pretty large and filling portion.

      • Sounds good to me, I'll check it out tomorrow.

      • nachos at gyg are the bomb. they really good to start with, but the unique part is the ability to put your own sauce on, and even put them in the little containers to take away. ooh yeahh

    • Yes it is a bit overpriced for what you get but don’t forget you are paying for convenience.

    • For me the point of difference is they have barramundi.
(burrito with no rice, double Barra, guac [also comes with cheese, black beans, salsa and sauce])…. pretty good.

Yes, imo, it is slightly over priced. And charge stupid extras like for brown rice.

Imo, it is not very authentic and is much like Tex Mex chain. Eg. They do not have proper re-fried beans.

I think Zambrero are more authentic. But I think their business model might suck. So get it while they are still in business.

  • Great find!! Save my travelling time for lunch break.

  • OMGosh .. just made an order and found out i could pay using GOOGLE PAY!!
YESS … i can finally make good use of all my survey credits!!! :D

EDIT: dratz …. i take that back. it didnt use my credit, it charged my cc on file instead >.< mis-understood "google pay" with the credit i have

    • Haha no you got me excited for a second there!! I wonder if I could use my Google Play credit for Netflix or Spotify or something in a similar vein..

  • Can confirm that this works! Order took a while to prepare (guess they might be pretty busy) but took less than 15 minutes to get to my door.

Time to dig in to my burrito :)

    Update: Burrito was 8/10

    • It did not take a while to prepare. It was sitting there until they had a rider free to pick it up.

      • Huh, I thought it was like Uber Eats where a driver has to actually accept the order before it gets sent to the store (I think that's how it works?). That seems a lot more logical, otherwise the food could be sitting there and getting cold for a while if there's no drivers around/they're all busy.

I should note though that in my experience, actual GYG stores aren't much faster. I frequent their South Bank (Brisbane) store and I often end up having to wait at least 5 minutes for Nachos, sometimes 10 if there's lots of people. They're definitely nowhere near as fast as other fast food stores.

Tastes a lot better than McDonalds though so no complaints from me.

TBH food I've ordered has been pretty average from GYG on deliveroo
Servings were small for the price
    Was missing serviettes/cutlery
And this was with free delivery. Definitely wouldn't pay full price

    • That has been my experience too on every occasion. Even when I ordered Nandos via Deliveroo it was the same. I won't be their service again for those outlets again

  • +1

I grabbed two burritos from them on 'cinco de mayo' and unfortunately together with my partner we were pretty disappointed. Both burritos were blunt and meh, very average, barely any pulled pork in it, mainly rice that tasted extremely watery. We did not complain because hey, it was only 5 bucks but I would not order from them again.

    • -1

You ordered from them on the day where they were frantically pumping out thousands of burritos for $5 a whack, and you were surprised that the quality was affected?

You're probably the same kind of person who would complain that free samples are too small.

      • +5

Hey, if you read my comment properly you would then realise that in fact I did not complain, as they were only 5 dollars indeed.

I don't get free samples, sorry to disappoint you.

My apologies for sharing my honest feedback on OB, I forgot it's mainly run by emotional young people who rather attack than engage in a polite discussion. It seems like I must either love them or just keep quiet as I will get negged. Come on people, get a grip!

And whether they were selling thousands or billions of them on the day, they should have keept their standards to promote their porduct when off the promo.

        • -5

I just think it's slightly harsh given the sheer number of people and orders they need to chew through on the day.

I remember heading to World Square (NSW) two years ago for the 5/5 promotion and there were at least 100 people either waiting for their cheaprito or waiting to order. The staff were working at a feverish pace just to move the volume required.

When I finally got mine, it was definitely the worst quality Guzman product I've had. But it also wasn't my first or last.

To say you'd never order from them again based on an experience you had when the conditions effectively guaranteed you to get a substandard product is a little illogical. Sure, don't line up on 5/5 again, but never order again? C'mon.

they should have keept their standards to promote their porduct when off the promo.

Do you honestly believe this? Should Guzman restrict/limit orders on this day to ensure a smaller number of people get a higher quality burrito?

        • +2

@QW3RTY: I appreciate your comment. No point discussing this further though. You have your standards, I have mine and it makes life more colourful.

          Have a great day!

          @7es7ash: Ma'shallah my brother.

@QW3RTY: "Do you honestly believe this? Should Guzman restrict/limit orders on this day to ensure a smaller number of people get a higher quality burrito?"

butting in here but no. If guzman y gomez decides to lower the price, everyone expects them to sell more. because we are expected to buy more. And thats exactly what you saw.

Given how they can face limitations from making way more burritos than usual (such as, they only have a limited amount of staff, workspace, equipment etc and that each order needs cooking time, prep time and service), guzman y gomez or anyone defending them shouldnt be offended when a paying customer says their food didnt meet their expectations.

        • +2

          @hadz: Exactly.
From a marketing perspective one of the primary goals is to encourage new customers to try their food. If I was a new client, served sub-standard food I would certainly never be going back to pay full price.
These specials should be exactly the same quality as when paying full price (I understand a smaller portion size, but not quality). If I was a franchise owner, I would not be happy at all if the product was not indicative of my full retail priced food.

        • I promised myself that I won't leave more comments on this topic but I can't resist it after gaining some support ;-)

Imagine you buy an airfare on a full service airline, let it be a 5 star airline on a flight to let's just say WAW via DOH. (I am slightly revealing here the industry I work for).

Now, because the cabin is full of people, the flight crew is exhausted and they are overworking themselves. As a result they decided that the service they will provide on this flight will be substandard, after all paying 50% off the airfare effectively guaranteed what you are about to get… or did it?

Isn't this what you were trying to say QW3RTY?

Now, after 22 hour flight, where the Cabin Crew just threw some nuts at you, poured you a single cup of water and provided you with a cold meal, would you ever dare to purchase another ticket at a full price with this particular airline?

          I honestly don't think so…

Thankfully this is just a made up scenario that we use for our training purposes. In reality we keep our standrads up high and consistent no matter the price paid for the airfare.

          Keep on smiling!

        • @7es7ash:

          No.

If I paid half fare for a full service airline I wouldn’t expect to get the same service as I would expect delays getting food and such because I would know the flight would be full.

I certainly would expect my checked bags to make the flight.

A great experience paying half price or a poor experience paying half price though wouldn’t really effect my decision to buy a full fare next time. I wouldn’t anyway…. as even the best service…. for me…. isn’t good value.

Back to the burrito before the analogy breaks….

I would expect a slight decline in quality when paying $5 for a burrito.
(however, the advantage I have is that I know what a normal full price one typically looks like).

If it was very bad then I would think twice about paying for a full priced one.
