Standard price from Pioneer direct with FREE shipping: https://www.pioneeraudio.com.au/products/sp-fs52

  • So this is free delivery?

    Any Q Acoustics deal again?

    • They have 2050i floorstanders for 499.

  • What is the sound quality like on these?

    • I can only speak for the bookshelf versions of these, of which I have four and the centre. They really sound fantastic - better than the floor-standing setup I had previously.

    • my BS22 bookshelf ones on good stands sound superb, easily as good as some celebrated British speakers like Rogers and KEF… looks like a bargain too in this sale. The floorstanders likely to be just as good, tho the rave reviews are of the small ones, eg, https://www.stereophile.com/content/pioneer-sp-bs22-lr-louds…

      • easily as good as some celebrated British speakers like Rogers and KEF

        As good as KEF?

        • These and (now updated) Debut are supposedly the absolute best in low-end market. They don’t compete in mid- and high-end where KEF lives.

        • @AlexF:

Thanks, I am thinking to get a pair of INFINITY REFERENCE 162 not very sure how is it compare with Pioneer.

          @superforever:
Best advice you’ll ever get: “don’t overspend.”

        • Lol no way in hell do these compete with anything Q range and up in Kef.

Sick of him trying to flog off speakers because his past, the Elac speakers were awful when I demo'd them.

    • I've got a pair of FS-52, powered via a pioneer vsx-523 in a fairly large open-plan living area (e.g. standard modern apartment layout).

They're ok - but I've never had a full sized pair of speakers before, so I can't offer much of a critique.

I do find the clarity of vocals when watching tv/movies to be a bit "meh", at least compared to good headphones, but this could be because the room is shit (huge, has hard tiles on the floor, and not enough furnishings to absorb sound reflections). I don't have a center speaker, so everything is coming out the fronts.

Music wise, they're pretty awesome - especially for anything heavy - not boomy, and have some good punch in there.

  • If i'm going to be using these alone what amp do i need?

If you have to ask, it may not be for you.

I think any proper receiver should be OK.

You'll need to ask yourself if you will upgrade (add more speakers) and what inputs you need.
A stereo amp may suit, but may not have the inputs you desire.

A surround sound receiver may be better, but may not sound as good for the price (as a stereo amp).

  • Good reviews but DSE had same price but $15 shipping rather than $50 so went DSE.

i've just recevied a Sony STRDN1080 (part of a 'customer service' issue) - is it feasible to get 4 of these spkrs for front and rear?
I've looked at some of the bundle spkr packs on your site .. admit i don't have a great deal of hi-fi knowledge, so wondering if you can recommend a spkr set to make the most of this amp?
    thanks :)
