  • Thanks OP. Wondering if I should wait for a bigger price drop on the HR or bite the bullet on one of these.

  • Great deal. The girlfriend has been thinking about getting one but doesn't like the heart rate monitoring. Might grab her one of these.

Worth noting the Flyer headphones are also $99 down from $199 like the Alta.

why doesn't she like the HR monitoring? thought that'd be a good thing…

      • Good thing for monitoring HR, bad thing for standby time maybe~

        • I tried to turn off HR on my Garmin, and the battery life did increase a lot (double at least). I think you can do the same with Fitbit

  • I am waiting for the Fitbit Versa deal. Not sure if they have fixed all issues though.

Dodgy bands on the Alta. I've gone though 2,and so has my wife. They were replaced under warranty all times, but it was the same issue each time.

The band comes loose of the attachment.

We've changed to a different model now.

    • I had the same issue. Fitbit is sending out two new bands to me but they have the buckle like the Alta HR. They said the clasp bands are no longer available. I suspect JB Hi-Fi is getting rid of this stock as they've been replaced.

This is still a good deal as Fitbit will readily replace the bands under warranty.

I'm not sure I'd trust the company at all.

    • Well if you actually read the full article they fully cooperated with the investigation and admitted they got their policies wrong in Australia based on local laws.

    • I've had a Fitbit since they were released in 2013. When the band on my original flex snapped, they replaced it even though it was more than a year old. They did the same with my Charge and now my Alta.

They do seem to have an issue with the bands and the glue they use. But, their warranty service has been great. My advice if you do decide to buy one is to keep the receipt.

Get the charge 2 when it comes on special for a little more than this.

  • The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 was just released yesterday. It looks good on paper but yet to see any proper reviews.

  • How does this compare to the TomTom Touch Cardio Fitness Tracker?

It was on special at Jb for $99. I hesitated buying it couple weeks ago, not sure if it's still on sale now.

Fitbit seems a better brand. My bro had a tom Tom smart watch and it died after he left it charging for too long.

  • I was just about to post this one. Seems to be a few fitness trackers on sale. Looks like JB are trying to push the category during Winter to keep them selling.

They've got Alta (no heart rate) $99
Fitbit Alta Heart Rate Special Edition $149
Tom Tom Touch Cardio (with heart rate) $99
Tom Tom touch fitness tracker $108. This one seems to be the same as the Cardio model but with body composition.
    Garmin vivosmart 3 $145
