      Yep,

plus I thought we all collectively said (profanity) harvey norman after the international parcels debacle

Poor build quality. The tip is made of plastic. I've had 2 or 3 of these in the past and all have broken after a few uses.

    • yep same here each one i've bought a month or so later breaks

    • +2

Haven't broken any, however haven't had them long enough to find out. Always manage to lose them fast.

  • These are good for day to day basic things and connecting to your car keys.

Other than that I use them to backup photos/videos, then label and store.

Thanks for the deal v1nn1e but have to agree with myusername.

fully agreed mate, hate this US style lobbying by the rich to boost their monopolies. In Aus we only a couple of big businesses to begin with (Coles/bunnings/officeworks vs Woolies vs HN vs Kogan/GG).

But then again - being fully honest - my morals might be tempted with a big %age of discount on a better product :-)

    • Gerald Harvey also said last night that companies were "appointing unqualified women to boards". The only woman on his board is is wife.
There's a ton of research indicating diversity in management gives better company outcomes. So he's a sexist and a protectionist.

      • Gerry is a one man entrepreneur, so obviously only HIS wife would qualify

        Nothing new here 😀

If companies are filling quotas, rather than hiring the best regardless of gender, then his comment is probably correct.

There is a lot of, what you might call, feminist advocate research, in the management field. It is poor to say the least: small company samples, selected companies with already successful track records, short time periods, and feminist ideological researchers.

If diversity is a strength in company boardrooms, it is the diversity of experience and fields of expertise. Not gender, skin colour, or whatever.

Good for multiboot iso usb. Had a bunch of 4s and 8s rolled into one now

    Great for a raspberry pi

    • +1

That was my thinking on it too.

  • Damn the USB 2.0 is a real deal breaker, if this was 3.0 i'd be all over it.

    • is there a huge difference in usb 2.0 and 3.0????

      • +2

Massive, usb 3 is about 10 times the speed of usb 2.

        • Thanks, I believe my old 1 TB Hard drive is USB2 because it takes like 40mins to copy 40gb across.

      • USB 3.0 is absolutely faster. But how much you care about that depends what you use it for. If you often copy very large files (GBs) and stand in front of the computer, waiting for the copy to complete, then yes there's a big difference with USB3. For most other uses USB 2.0 is fine. It's still just as portable and the speed is acceptable. At least for me, most of the time.

    • USB 3.0 wouldn't make any difference since this is limited by the speed of the internals.. In my experience with these sticks you can barely hit 10MB/s transfer speeds, which is well short of what even USB 2.0 is capable of.

      • That's 53 minutes to fill up 32GB. Just sayin'.

        • USB 3.0 costs a lot more. The 2.0 silicon is just so much cheaper to buy (still)

  • Whats the write speed on these?

    • About 20 MB/s compared to USB 3 which can be about 130 MB/s

    • +4

      About 4MB/s. I wouldn't touch this one.

      • Thanks thats horrifically slow I cant imagine writing 32 gig at that speed let alone 5 gig lol

      • Correct, these are limited by the internals not USB 2.0. You get 10MB/s on these if you're lucky, well short of USB 2.0 maximums.

    Harvey can get effed.

    • What happened? Whats the Goss?

      • +1

He never called back the day after their date.

      • Gerry spent a few years lobbying the government to ensure that Australians pay GST on Amazon purchases. Rather than make his own business actually competitive, he made sure we're punished for shopping elsewhere. The guy's a dog.
