As a travel destination I think going anywhere else is probably a better use of your money.

I went to Noumea during a cruise and the day I spent there was just enough time to see it, and want to leave again.

      Unsure this is accurate

I have been a couple of times, New Caledonia is beautiful, a quick flight to isle of pines and you get a pristine white sand beach, jet ski across to some amazing snorkeling through coral reefs, even seeing sharks and turtles. Took a yacht trip out to a sand bank where I could stand in the middle of the ocean with nobody around. Have been up north to beautiful beaches and stunning forests.

Sure the city of Noumea isn't super flash but a one day cruise stop and you are blanketing the location as not worth it?

Shh let the tourists stick to the cities & be disappointed.

  • Thanks OP, my wife's family lives there and this is super cheap. Appreciate it

    • Glad you enjoy the deal. If you watch those pages you will see when the route is discounted :)

Great price if you have family to visit, but New Caledonia is a very expensive destination. Plenty of places in the South Pacific that are a fraction of the price and just as pretty.

As an easy reference point, a Big Mac Value meal is around AUD$15.

    • what do the locals eat? I imagine seafood & that would be cheap.

      • Mainly a western food.

Being a French Territory, wages are high, thus everything is pricey (compared to other pacific nations).

    • So what are these other destinations?
      Just few examples…
      Thank you,

Vanuatu or Fiji. GDP per capita is a less than 20% of that of New Caledonia (Noumea) .
