What can we use a PS4 to do these days? Run movies? Connect to PC lan and run movies (?)?
I only play console games rarely, but a machine like this seems great for a multimedia machine and I was looking at buying a controller for PC emulation too.

Xbox does 4k playback, controller better for PC.
They have some legacy PS3 titles
4k playback is nice, but it's hard to find shows and movies in 4k.
How much for the Xbox? If a PS4 doesn't play PS2 games then I don't want a PS4.
Edit: wtf? Gaikai streaming service,? (profanity) that. If I can only play legacy games through the cloud then there's no point in owning a PS4.
You can play legacy titles on PC.there was a deal recently on the xbox but at the moment this is cheaper
Buy a ps4 if you want to play games. There are much cheaper alternatives like Apple TV chromecast, mi TV etc and third party controllers that would be a better option for the uses you listed.

Just bought 1 to play 4k movies. Cheapest 4k player I can find is at JBHifi for $200.

I am in a similar boat, not looking at 4K for some time, and my netflix subscription is only for lower quality anyway. I'm a casual console gamer, the only real reason I want a PS4 is for God of War and Become Human. I figure with this deal I can get the console AND the games and still be ahead. So I bought it :)

Yeah dead serious, my order has gone from will dispatch on June 8 to shipping soon where it has been stuck since the 9th, delivery was always listed as between June 14th - 18th, it has now changed to expected by June 18th. To make it worse I ordered a controller & game the day after the console deal they shipped on the 12th June & arrived at Tullamarine on the 13th June. So my poor 10yo nephew has the game & controller he wanted but no console.
Just an update, after I emailed to Amazon.AU again this morning thankfully via the help of 2 amazon reps, my original order had hit a bug or glitch thus why it had stuck (my card was never charged) but my order should HOPEFULLY be here now Tuesday 19th June now.

Firstly my nephew is not spoiled at all, really its more a 40+ year seemingly endless umm $hit stirring between my younger brother & I, as I have been a gamer since the Atari 2600 days but my brother has always been the sporty outdoorsy type. My nephew has been more than happy playing on my thrashed out ps3 for a few years here when he visits & as he doesn't have a console at home, so now with the ps4 here my dear brother will have to endure the endless "Are we going to Uncles….DAD?". As I am mostly a PC gamer I don't want him playing GTA V, The Witcher 3 etc which are on my PC & as I mostly thrashed the PS3 with Yakuza & Grand Turismo series & with GT6 shutting down online recently figured it was time I moved to current gen & caught up on the 3 or 4 Yakuza games now on the 4 already in between the butt kickings I am going to cop on FIFA 18 from a 10 year old.
The PS4 was finally delivered today & the system software was version 4.73 if anyone is still here or cares ;-)
