  • shame their usage prices are higher…

  • I already switched to red energy even though their usage was higher to get the amex deal.

  • Their earlier offer, $125 off on first bill was better. Assuming you leave after three months it was $41.6 discount per month.

  • Their usage rates and daily supply charges are crazily high.
You will be better off with some other supplier.
For instance, AGL gives 28% pay on time discount for usage charges and $50 credit for signing up.
Anaysim offer is only good if you have VERY LOW usage.

    • Nah, depending on your suburb, in my case amaysim is among the top 3 cheapest, after taking into account 35% discount.
energy retailer nowadays plays the bait and switch trick on customers, they play Russian roulette to assign cheapest rate to a particular distribution area for a couple of months then change to another region. To keep up with them you gotta check with government comparison sites every few months.

      • Amaysim (NSW):
        Usage 42.13 cents per kWh
Daily Supply Charge 99.00 cents per day
NOTE: To get $30 off for 6 months you will have to stay with Amaysim for 7 or possibly even 8 months (read their T&C carefully)!

        AGL (NSW):
        Usage 31.90 cents per kWh LESS 28% discount = 22.968 cents p/KWh
Daily supply charge 92.40 cents per day
LESS $50 one off signing up credit (no lock in contract).

If your average usage is about 450 KWh per month, your expenses over 7 months will be as follows:
        AGL: $1,202 less $50 credit = $1,152
        Amaysim: $1,538 less $180 discount for 6 months = $1,358

Obviously, the higher your usage, the more you will pay to Amaysim compared to AGL.

As per my post above, Amaysim will only make sense if your usage is VERY LOW.

Stay away, they have the worst billing ever in my experience. Chances are the discount won't be applied and you have to contact them every month for it.

Absolutely impossible to get off their mailing list once they have your email. I signed up for a 10Gig amaysim card to be used within 6 months, a deal from not so long ago, now I get these damned energy discount spam emails from them ALL the time. I've tried unsubscribe, doesn't work.

I've got several prepaid numbers from them and don't receive any junk mail at all…

Be aware that Amaysim Energy and Click Energy (Amaysim) apply the discount in arrears, so there is no discount on the first usage period, the discount applicable to the first period isn't applied until the end of the second billing period.

Also there is no discount on the final billing period, if or when you decide to move to another provider. So you can never actual get the full "discount" they advertise, no matter how longer you stay as a customer, because of the non discounted billing periods.

    Very deceptive!

    • Do you have any source to confirm they don't give discount for the final bill? It's very dodgy if they do that.

      • I can confirm this, Amaysim rep informed me of this.

      • Its mentioned in terms and conditions as well. Also you need to pay bills on time to get any discount. Usually you've only 5 days since bill generation to pay it.

  • Amaysim standard rates kw/hour are ten percent higher than Origin standard rates to begin with. I took the time to look at net rates of all energy suppliers in Queensland. Amaysim offers are not competitive in my research. Their type of offer also makes it difficult to do comparisons of kw/hour, but obviously they can and do.

And they are 32% higher than AGL standard rates in NSW

Do not do it. Read previous posts about billing and honoring of promotions.

  • Thanks Op. Signed up to the Click one but will switch to this as it's $5/month more and slightly cheaper rates. Amaysim will probably hate me given I'm causing Click to Amaysim churn costs.

Doesn't work out well for most people but I have a premise that uses very little power.
