I'm a loyal GJ man. But after the last order i've decided to sit this one out until I can be sure it's back up to standard. Can't help but feel cheated from the last order…

    • what happened - did you let them know and give them a chance to fix it?

      • +6

They've had so many chances here to fix it and everytime it's been the same. Even after they "bought out the other owners" several deals ago. My last lot was very dry and hard to chew.

Fortunately I didn't have to wait several weeks for them to ship unlike most other people.

        • And while I'm at it. If you want good try Silvers Jerky, Riverina Jerky or Biltong To Go.

        • @Clear:

Silver's is excellent but no bulk packs unfortunately.

Jim's is also very good, I like the honey soy.

Biltong to go is ok imho, I thought the flavours were pretty basic but I enjoyed being able to choose how they dry the product.

Geronimo was absolute trash and would not but again. I appreciate they are going for tough jerky cut with the grain, but paper this and dried until plastic is nobody's preference.

Will have to put Riverina on the list to try. Thanks :)

      • fair enough - I'm not a fan of their dry jerky style myself, but was curious about issues
that thread does not look great

    Avoid.

    My experience.

    1) years ago bought some jerky in their first deal, it was great, yum yum.

    2) somtime later Geronimo jerky had some kind of business issue and stuffed a lot of customers around, you can still find the threads here on ozbargain.

    3) some months ago they did another deal, and I decided to give them another shot despite knowing their history had been controversial.

About a month after ordering I received the jerky and it was disgusting, dry, tasteless and basically inedible.

I contacted them for a refund which they ignored until I raised a PayPal dispute. They started communicating but were not very helpful, but in the end they said they had sent a new order that I would love.

They didn't provide a tracking number dispite my request, so I had to escalate the case through PayPal for a refund before the case closed automatically.

PayPal refunded me in full including the shipping after I sent back the jerky and provided shipping confirmation.

The promised new order from Geronimo never arrived…they had lied.

Oh, the last sentence tells everything :-|

    • Perfectly summed up. They advised in the last deal to let them know if you had a delivery that wasn't delivered. I sent an email to which I never got a reply.

My last order (same as 3) was terrible, I ordered 4 different flavours and the consistency is not there. Some bits were ok whilst most other bits were too thin and completely dry.

In my experience, if you prefer rock solid jerky to exercise your gum. Geronimo will be a good choice.

  • Im a little nervous after reading these comments. I have bought a couple of bags and will report on the quality once received.

  • +1

    Great jerky.
They had some serious problems recently but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a last chance.

    • This stuff is back to its brilliant best.
Just received my order and it was like the first few batches i ever ordered! Delicious.

  • +1

Always found their jerky to be dry that I could re-sole my shoes with it.

I'm tempted to try this again based on the details above that its softer etc etc.

No-one will know unless we try them again.

    • +1

im not giving them another shot after the last time i ordered, those jerky were inedible. Fool me once already, shame on them, fool me twice i wont be able to put the blame on them

  • Really keen to see if the new batch is any good…

So get this - in 2016 I bought a sample pack from Geronimo Jerk. They sent me an email saying thanks, order received, your order is now on hold until we confirm payment (was instantly paid for via CC). Anyways I forgot all about it - UNTIL 2 YEARS LATER, April this year, I got an email saying the order was now complete. Same order number and everything. Nope this isn't a joke, I will post the emails below. Oh, and the kicker? I moved interstate since then and if they did send the sample pack this April, then it went to my old address.

    2 years!

So yeah, no one blame me if I give this deal a downvote for being a dodgy vendor?

    • +2

the exact same situation as me but i bought a 1 kilo pack and spent about $100 for nothing……

      • I can't believe they're still in business

    • +1

Lol that’s crazy! How does that even happen…

  • +1

i still have not received my order even though I have been told via email and ozbargain that my order was coming…

2 years and waiting for delivery :(

  • +2

LMFAO, IM SORRY I GOT TO WRITE THIS IN CAPS TO GETS THE AUDIENCES ATTENTION.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISGUSTING PUTRID PRODUCT, ITS BLOODY DAMN TERRIBLE, AVOID AT ALL COST

TOO DRY, TO PLASTIC, HURTS YOUR JAW WHEN YOU CHEW ON IT, FLAVOURS ARE ALL TERRIBLE IMO, I HAD THE POW WOW, SPICY, ORIGINAL AND BUCKSHOT.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE

  • +1

I broke my tooth chewing on these jerks. Worst delivery time in history

    • i think i chipped a small part of my teeth from trying to chew this stuff

  • These guys used to be good when they first started but I think they've gone downhill heaps.

  • Lots of hate! Sounds like some people have really been screwed around by them.

Just for balance, I've had nothing but good things. Sure they had an issue a couple years ago when some equipment failed (I think?), and their latest batch was a little bit hard (but still edible and tasty). But on balance it's still the best tasting (and affordable) jerky I can get my hands on.

    • +2

There's no thing stopping the Rep from reaching out to those affected and fixing up past mistakes. I can only imagine how many people got screwed that aren't here presently to tell their story.

  • Isn't GJ on the OzB shitlist now?

  • Bought a few two promos ago, took over a month to arrive. Fine, whatever, that's fairly forgivable.

But it just taste no good. Original & Pow Wow taste aweful, like chewing an old boot. After a few days in an air-tight container, they smelt even worse and developed the most unappealing of after-tastes!

Buckshot was okay. It too developed an after-taste after some time in an air-tight container, but it eventually disappeared, and actually wasn't too bad. I still wouldn't recommend it though.

  • I've gone ahead and placed an order. Just 200g of Original. Will report back when it arrives.

    • *when it arrives in 2 years

      • So much hate and negativity.

    • +1

My order I placed on 13/6 arrived on 20/06.

My order somehow went through twice - so I received 2 bags seperately - but only charged once - so thanks for that :)

This jerky is still tougher than other brands of jerky, but definitely softer than it was back when they were good and well respected by OzB - so perhaps their spiel on their new meat is correct.

I'd say give them another try. I know they have f&&ked up in the past.

  • +1

I ordered 5 packs last time, different flavors, they were all so hard I could barely chew them, gotta say the quality is not there, I would go so far as saying they are barely eatable

  • Years ago, they were great, one of the best Jerky in the country.
Then one day, I put in my order, 4 weeks later, I haven't heard from them.
Got in contact with them, and eventually, I got my order and the Jerky is still really good, to my surprise they promise me a refund.
I think the problem with GJ now is the management issue, once they've sorted this out, they will become good again and regain customer trust.
I'm tempted to give them another go now, and sees how I go.

I just notice their 40g has gone up from $6.00 to $6.50 since 2015.

  • +1

Bought it to try, spent $100 on jerky

I thought I’d see if it was any good.
Verdict , it was like eating bark and it pretty much looked like bark.
To give you an idea , I usually cut up jerky and put it in bags.

I ended up with a blister from the scissors because the jerky was stupidly tough.

Additionally, had a saw jaw for about a week after eating 2 small bags of this stuff

    • Yep, hard to cut even with scissors. Ridiculous, inedible.

  • Had some back in 2015 and was delicious. The last lot I ordered recently was real bad IMO. Flat, dry and plasticy. Might be alright for some though.

  • +1

I bet it is the rep to put a negative vote on any comment that down vote them, shame on you.

  • I was very tempted to buy last deal. Reading these comments, I'm glad I didn't end up dropping the cash.

  • -1

DONT BUY. horrible, overly dry, tasteless, so tough it's hard to cut with scissors. You've been warned by this and countless comments above and in previous threads.

  • I got my order today and it was great!
No issues at all with this batch.

    • Agreed, best jerky I've tasted!

  • My order is still processing from ordering on the 13th of June. How long does it normally take?
