[QLD] Switch to Suncorp CTP - Receive a $30 EFTPOS Giftcard OR QBE - Receive a $25 XSWestfield Giftcard (or $50) (Conds Apply)

200

Hey,

Just got my rego bill and wanted to see who the cheapest CTP was. Turns out they all cost the same in my case, but I did notice that both Suncorp and QBE have offers going if you switch to them. I was already with Suncorp, so I switched to QBE.
Link to compare the four: https://maic.qld.gov.au/ctp-calculator-results

The online form for QBE was really simple, about 5 or so fields. For eligible people in some post codes (as suggested by randoom) you may be able to get a $50 giftcard. Direct link: https://switch.qbe.com.au/

Their only conditions I could see are:
1. "When you next renew your registration for twelve (12) months"
2. Switch from another provider
3. Car registered in QLD
4. Be over 30

The gift card has a few conditions:
The XSWestfield Gift Card may be used for purchases across Australia at the large number of retailers with EFTPOS facilities; it is not limited to Westfield centres. However some retailers may choose not to accept these Gift Cards, card terms and examples listed below*.
*The XS Westfield gift card cannot be redeemed for cash, reloaded or refunded. Use of the XS Westfield Gift Card is subject to the XS Westfield Gift Card conditions which are available at westfield.com.au/giftcards. Some retailers do not accept this card, including but not limited to: Myer, Coles Express, Shell Service Stations, Event Cinemas, Hoyts Cinemas and Village Cinemas.

As for Suncorp the form is a bit longer, but its worth $30, which if you wanted to you can instead donate it to YoungCare.

The only conditions (haven't gone through the process so check it before you commit) I can see are:
1. Switch from another provider
2. Car registered in QLD
3. Further conditions may apply i.e like in the deal Pommycol posted a while back: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252613
4. Check the fine print because I didn't go through the process

I believe you can do the form now and when you pay your rego later they'll send it out - they mention this at the end of the process. I'm going to wait a bit longer to pay the rego in case they have some back office paper pushing to make it happen (its not due for another month anyway).

Enjoy

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/ctp%20qld

  • Where can we find that it says you get 25$ from qbe?

    • The link is to compare all four side by side, i did that so people could see them side by side in the calculator they made.

They mention the gift cards in the comparison boxes (1st and 3rd one) also when you click through its mentioned throughout.

Ill be posting the direct links shortly.

  • OP might want to add this link for QBE and this one for Suncorp

    • Will do shortly, just afk atm.

  • damn, just renewed 3 weeks ago.

  • It's says I'm not eligible for rewards. I'm not even with them (qbe).

    • Did you pick other as the rego class?

      • +2

Looks like you have to be 30+ to be eligible for qbe

  • Dammit! Just renewed rego about 10 mins ago and only seen this post now :(
Thanks anyway OP, will try to remember next time when renewing my partner's car rego.

    • always the way. I texted a few of my mates about it and at least two of them had paid in the last couple of days/weeks.

  • Any suggested offers for NSW registration?

    • NSW has a pretty different system and what looks like an open market - we're limited to four big insurers in some government concocted farce, I've been paying mine since i was 18 in 2002 and its been like this as long as I can remember, if anything we had less insurers when i started paying. Rant over.

A quick google shows https://www.greenslips.com.au has a comparison search - can't see any deals at a glance. Youi's offering 100 youi dollars you can spend on rewards if you switch and are over 23.

  • +1

FYI it's $50 with QBE for certain people. A quick test of a variety of dates of birth and postcodes seems to indicate it's $50 for regional postcodes (eg Cairns) and $25 for Brisbane/Gold Coast/etc. DOB didn't seem to affect it, aside from not working for people < 30.

    • cheers i'll put that in. I saw the $50 one for QBE and like you had fiddle to see what triggered it, but mustn't have found the right post codes - figured it was to lure us in somehow.
