Great deal tightarse. I purchased a pair of slippers the last time this sale was on.

I highly recommend, have been wearing them for 2 weeks now, they are very comfortable and unlike fake-lambswool one's, they don't smell.

    • delivery STANDARD POST $9.95

is it a good value at $29.95?

      • I last bought some cheap ones for $15 and after only a few hours wear, they stunk.

So twice the price for genuine lambswool and no smell. I think it was worth it.

        • +1

          Don't they smell of lamb?

        • @jv: You just made me sniff my slippers,,, And yes, they do.

        • +1

          @xev:

          yes, they do.

New Zealanders 'literally' love those slippers…

        • @jv: Then they'll smell as bad as the $15 ones.

hardly any good shoes for less than 100, how is this a bargain?

    • +8

How is it not a bargain when it's 20% off? $25 shoes become $20 and $120 shoes become $96 for example.

The hush puppies I wear were $130 full price and have been flawless for months, so they're worth every penny. Especially when discounted!

      • +8

How is it not a bargain when it's 20% off?

Because hush puppies are often reduced way more than that… I got some last year for about 60% off.

      • +4

I've got a used Camry. 300,000km on the clock. $100,000, but 20% off at the moment, so that's only $80,000. Bargain!

I've had two pairs of Hush Puppies and they were great… for a few months until they both developed flaws and broke. Just because they're discounted, doesn't mean they're decent quality.

        • 20% off rrp not whatever figure you want to make up

      • I've never paid more than 75 for a pair, and I'm talking hush puppies, julius marlow, clarks etc. If you are spending 130,spend a bit more and get a good year welt shoe from ct shirts

        • $130 full price. I didn't pay that much.

        • +2

@Clear: if you pay more than 80 dollars for these shoes, you are getting ripped 0ff.

        • @mlburnian: I didn't pay more than $80. Got them in a Myer clearance sale.

        • @Clear: hence why I said this sale is crap, all the decent shoes are over 100 with the code

        • +1

Are those goodyear welted CT shoes made in parts unknown costing $199 actually better than your Florsheims, Hush Puppies, Julius Marlows etc

  • +1

Considering getting the Chelsea boot. Anyone care to comment on the quality/fit.

    • +1

I've had the Noel and the Travis, neither one lasted more than 6 months (toe end unglued from the sole, and side split at glue on the other). Couldn't recommend these for durability at all. Disappointing, as they're very, very comfortable shoes when not falling apart.

      • Bought two pairs of shoes last time wear at most once a week. Less than 6 months, sole starts separating (unglued) from the shoe for one pair, the other pair make squeaky sound when I walk.

    • +1

Both of Chelsea and Carter are very nice. I prefer the sole of Carter though.

I would have jumped on whichever was cheaper if they were in black.

    • Pros: great fit and very comfortable, hard wearing sole. Cons: squeaky with some socks (talcum powder helps), boot sling catches on work pants (jeans and stiffer materials are okay). Good price but have bought for cheaper in the past.

    These are all dad shoes

    • +11

      Even the ones for women?

    • -2

I'm a dad and I wouldnt be caught dead in most of these

  • +2

I've been wearing the Noel for work 5 days a week, for over 2 years. It has great durability! Leather is still good and sole has a lot of material left for even longer use. It lasts so much longer compared to other brands such as Julius Marlow and Aquila.

    • I had a pair of Noels that lasted over 5 years, I should get another pair.

    • I think I've also got a pair of the Noel's (definitely same brand) and I've been really happy with them.

I found the look of these ^^ brown Randall II shoes amazing, but they (and the black ones) aren't on sale, unfortunately. Only the stone nubuck (never heard of that color before) ones are on sale, before the 20% discount.

  • Terrible durability. Mine fell apart a few months, mainly walking just few km,s per day to/from work

Got something for everyone in the family. Thanks Tightarse for posting!

  • Just be warned, the sizes for shoes produced in India are suspect. The Chinese ones are good with consistant sizing!, I have purchased around 10 pairs in the past years.

Purchased two pairs recently - one Chinese 12uk and an Indian pair size 13uk, as ordered & listed on the box. It turned out the Indian uk13 was around an equivelent uk11.5 (compared to the Chinese ones)! so there was a real problem there.

For the first time I need to return the Indian ones for a credit, I contacted them last week for a return mailer, which was going to be attended to, as yet no return bag! …just wonder if they are hoping I will forget about the return in the end. These are the "Jedi" range, seems the return of the Jedi could be more troublesome than the movie!.

    • Just be warned, the sizes for shoes produced in India are suspect.

Shoes the quality of quality control department of companies that claim… "Designed in Australia… Made in…"

    • It’s worth noting some of their shoes on the site are in UK sizes and some are in US sizes. They aren’t consistent for some reason.

  • Do they accept Quarkchain coins?

  • For those looking at this now. The boots used to be on sale, but unfortunately has been taken down. :(

  • How is this chelsea boot compared to julius marlow ??? Quality ovrr quantity??

    • +1

The chelsea boots I have are much better quality than the julius marlow shoes I've had. The soles have been much harder wearing so far.

      • So +1 hush puppies??
I have not owned any of them so i am thinking to buy a pair of chelsea boot. Could you recommend any?

        • +1

I can vouch for the fit and quality of the chelsea boots with the 'bounce' sole that's made in China (have 3 pairs). In comparison the Hush Puppies Ollie boots I have are not quite as comfortable and the sole seems to wear quicker than on the chelsea.

        • +1

Hush puppies are generally very comfortable shoes. Would recommend if you need a wider fitting shoe with emphasis on comfort and not too concerned how they look. The 'Chelsea' boot has a thin sole compared to say the 'Stockholm'. If using everyday therefore may not be as durable. I would give them two years at most as a work shoe. (Could be shorter if you hate your job and drag your feet to work)

What Hush Puppies do best is the chunkies i.e. 'Noel', 'Nigel', 'Travis', 'Tyler'. Excellent comfort but look very average.

That being said, 'Chelsea' is a popular shoe and comfortable. Just don't expect to wear for a long time. Sole will be worn down pretty quick.
          Hope that helps.

        • @iLike:
Agree with this. I bought a Chelsea and Stockholm and ended up returning the Chelsea because the sole is so thin.

  • I've got a pair of the Leroy's that I've been really happy with.

When I first got them I rubbed in some stuff made of eucalyptus and beeswax and they're virtually water proof. Wore them for about 3-4 months straight and they barely show any sign of wear.

I generally buy leather shoes because I've got wide feet and they stretch. These have been one of the better ones for that.

I also took out the standard insole and put in a more supportive insole, which increased the comfort level, but I do that with all my shoes.

  • How are these?
    Definitely not $150 :-)

  • I got a pair today from Hush Puppies store, same price as online, also 20% off if you register over the counter (email & name only). The benefit of course is you can try them on.
