Get the SHARP Aquos S2 then?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/385307

    • Im still tempted with this - Question - Does it have USB-C port? QuickCharge?

      • how much more are you willing to pay for usb c on phone with same features ?

        the spec says micro usb.

        • I bought the Sharp Aquos S2 about a month ago and I am stoked with it. Such a great phone and the price is amazing.

NFC, USB-C, Quickcharge and B28. Can't go wrong!

        • @cv05: Whats the android system like? Stock?

I've read over the whirlpool forums and there seems to be an abundance of software issues. I'd grab one instantly otherwise!

    • Someone mentioned here that they have both phones and prefer the redmi

      • if you need nfc or band 28 the sharp is about as cheap as it gets in that size and fhd screen.

software wise, unless you have an android one phone and google does your software updates you are stuck with the manufactuers motivation, time line and market segment priorities ….and none of them are great if in australia and the phone is designed for china (hence no need for nfc or band 28) and or they have released a new model and sales of the old are dwindling.

the android 2 years ol updates gives you an idea of lifespan and throw away and get model model.

android one and treble should get beyond 2 years of updates as hardware manufactuers will only need to write drivers for their hardware and android will have a more standardised platform to run on.

    I have a Note 4x but do not see a 5x?
My only issue is camera which is worse than my older cheaper Lumia 640. How is this camera and does Xiaomi have anything coming out >$250 with good camera?

    • 5x = this phone
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is this phone but with a better Snapdragon chip (636) and slightly better camera.

    • Camera can range from garbage, to really really good, depending on steady hand, right focus area, lighting etc.

I often find it takes 2 or 3 photos to get the one I want, especially close up.

    • On my Redmi Note 3 I found the image quality was improved significantly by using Open Camera instead of the built-in camera application.

  • Is Joybuy reliable? Can anyone share their experience? thanks

    • They're good. Basically Chinese eBay

      • Any tracking on parcels? Does not seem to have option for registered delivery.

  • Im looking at the site but it says the price is actually AUD $227?

Are there any other alternatives for a budget phone that will work with 4G networks? My requirements are very basic, I dont even do web browsing most of the time.
