do some reading about BUPA and their recent changes. Just make sure you know what you're getting into. Paying less now may mean paying more later. For the sake of a few bucks a week, it may be better using another provider.

I'm just trying to tell people to research the package that they are getting and ensure they know what the changes mean.

    • is HCF cheaper? their ad saying returning profit to members, etc etc.

For those that want the laser eye surgery done, take on the BUPA Ultimate before 30th June may be a really good idea; make sure you look into all the costings etc…
For those that don't know, BUPA are one of the last with 12-month waiting period for covering 100% of laser eye surgery costs. This is due to be adjusted 1st July to a 36month waiting period.

    • Thanks, I was looking into that. Do you know if there's any 'gotchas' with their policy around laser eye surgery?

Not that I know of, the only thing I would do (which we've done) is to go for a consultation so that you know exactly how much it costs, what it is exactly and that surgery is actually doable for you (specifically). Wouldn't it be sad to waste all that money on Ultimate cover only to find out a year later for whatever reason you can't have the surgery? Initial consult normally free of charge (not free exactly, its bulk-billed Medicare). Good luck

    • This policy cost more than the operation with Dr. Sebban in Sydney (which is around $2500). It is TransPRK though.

If you want Lasik or Smile, then taking this policy may be worth it.

      • Most of the pricing in Melbourne are around $2200 / eye, which makes it approximately $4k-$5k. Seems to be the same price PRK or Lasik. Also depending on your special circumstances (as in how good/bad your current vision is) it may be more. If it is $2500 for both eyes, thats an awesome price!

  • Can you direct debt from PayPal?

I'm keen to know this too! Might be able to combine with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/385332

      • Hi. I work at Bupa, but just to cover I have marked as associated.
As of today you can pay via PayPal for more domestic covers when joining online.

      • Hi there.
*disclaimer, I am not associated with Cash Rewards, but I work at Bupa.
The Cash Rewards offer is not stack-able with other offers.

        • @missbeardy

Thanks for clarification. When you say offers are not stackable does that apply to everything? There are so many offers with Bupa at the moment that I'm utterly confused which ones can be and can't be stacked…

Do you or anyone know which ones are stackable and which ones are not; some insight would be much appreciated!

        • @nizsmo: sorry for the delay in my response.
Generally, none of them are stackable.
The best bank for your buck will be the cash rewards offer.
PayPal will give you up to $1000 cash back in year one, and 6 weeks free in year 2 if you pay via PayPal. If you have PayPal you should get an email today or tomorrow.

        • @missbeardy: Confused with the offers too. Does this offer waive waiting periods? I need to have a crown done.

  • Also this is only valid today?

    • ii. you take out a new Bupa Selected Health Insurance policy on 20 June 2018;
      I guess it's today only

Isn't private health cover the biggest scam going right now?

  • is one eligible for this deal, if one is returning to Bupa after a year

  • do i need to start today or just buy today? i selected the start date as the 12/07 as this is my anniversary date from medibank
    im switching from another cover/medibank
