    Isn't woolcoles always that price¿
    Costco has it $5.99 always.

    • Costco $60 membership.
      Woolies now $9

Your right $5.99 chicken at Costco and there 1.5 kg Coles n woolies never put weight on there chooks due to being full of water

Tried weighing the Coles/Woolworths ones once > bit over 1 kg.

Costco ones are freakishly big if you're used to the smaller ones.

        • The woolies ones are approx 900-1100g. When the self checkout weight sensors used to be turned on, you could occasionally find one overweight that you couldn't place in a bag without staff override.

Aldi stock cold roasts for $8.49 ATM, they're 950-1000g

Costco for a hot chook - only if it's handy. For most, IGA & other supermarkets would be more convenient for fast food.
For me, it's so far away (45km each way) it would be cold by time I get home & cost far more in petrol than the saving, IGA is a 5 minute walk.

Don't see it in my local catalogue. 8.99/Kg whole porterhouse seems alright though.

  • My local IGA in Brisbane has had that price everyday for years. One of the best tasting supermarket roast chicken I've eaten (but varies depending on who is cooking).

It's IGA Market Day. My local have them for one day only. https://www.iga.com.au/vic-market-day/?utm_medium=email&utm_…

This is for the stores that do "Market Day" which is always falls on a Thursday. You may find the chicken shrinks in size on Market Day as they order in the smallest size birds to compensate for the reduced price. As someone who buys from IGA regularly this chicken deal is actually an anti-bargain. It's cheaper, but you get half as much chicken meat, and they are more dry because of same cooking time, smaller size.

  • mine local IGA's Market Day is 22 June as per their Catalog, chicken $6,99. Also some half price items interested in. [NSW]
    Thanks OP!

The cost per kg means buying a whole chook and cooking it yourself is way cheaper. BBQ chooks these days are tiny.

    • I've just noticed this recently too. The price of hot roast chicken has gone up so far that's it's tastier and cheaper to buy a ~2kg roast at about $5/kg or even lower!
