Got Optus Sport working on the Mi Box for those keen (has remote support, and no need for rotating app fixes or air mouse etc):

  • Is this the latest version of the Mi Box?

    • Yes

    • +1

No it is not, it is mi box 3, the new one is 4.

      • This is the latest for international dude. Dont spread wrong info

        • +1

          Ironic comment, given your username!

That's like saying the OnePlus 5 is their latest phone when the 6 is out (but not available here).

        • @f4te: there is a chinese version of 3 as well. should we start posting that as deal as it’s cheaper

        • +1

@f4te: no its not. There's a major software difference between the international and Chinese market one

        • @f4te:

Not really. The Chinese Mi Box 4 is pretty much the same hardware as the international Mi Box just with a newer Chinese OS.

        • This is the international version with the new remote?

  • I bought this from them last week, was happy with the quick post and the box; it'd be nice if there was a native ABC iView app, but casting from my phone seems OK (i found the sweeping panoramas in David attenborough's Tasmania juddering a bit).

    • +1

There is a native app for ABC iView in the Play Store, as well as ones for 7Plus and tenPlay (need to cast SBS and 9Now).

  • this or roku express at $39?

  • can this replace something like blutv?

    …. what's a Mi box?

  • The Oreo update out for this yet?

Good price but I'm waiting on the official nvidia shield for AU, just announced yesterday but no price yet.

Get the best of the best and never look back :x

$75 or you’re comparing two entirely different options/products.

    • intersting. i have one from US stock, wonder if these are going to be any different? unlikely right?

Got the Voda TV box. Runs very well, got optus sport and Foxtel Now running seamlessly and a few others. Well worth the $120.

  • Can you cast Apple Music from iPhone > Mi Box?

    • Nope. That only works on apple tv.

    • I use airscreen app from android TV store for my iPhone and u can side load apps like Netflix for free watch

What's the best cheap box with recording capabilities? Thinking of ditching Optus which would also mean ditching the fetch mighty.

    • Possibly this one, which I've now ordered. Whether it's better than the excellent Mecool m8s proL ATV box which has more of everything - ram, faster processor, internal storage, USB and micro SD external storage, time will tell.

By record if you mean record TV shows as you would a Foxtel iQ3 or Fetch box, no it doesn't, but if you mean download legal material to the hard drive or external USB, yes it does.

      • Pretty sure you can record in Kodi.

  • dos the prodcut Op linked to come with an AU plug ?

  • Can you sideload apps like Terrarium TV on this? Also, what are its advantages over a Chromecast other than a remote?

    • +1

      Yes you can.

Can you sideload apps like Terrarium TV on this?

Not a fan of this eBay plus thing, just seems like a way to push shipping costs to us. Either we pay new exorbitant rates (when did it ever cost $20 to ship a Mi Box) or we pay via eBay plus.

Once the intro price of $29 is over and $49 is the norm, more casual eBayers like me who purchase only a handful of items a year will be stuck. Either I pay $49 a year on the gamble that I'll need to cover that much postage, or $15-20 for every item I want shipped.

    • What has happened to ebay shipping? People used to ship from the UK for actual prices, now they seem to all use some kind of forwarding agent or something that costs a crazy amount

    Oreo available now people!

    • Nice, about time!
