  • 8GB 256GB RAM

    8GB RAM.

    • updated thanks

  • Wow. It’s quite expensive for a 6th gen i7

  • That is cheap compare with how much they were before.

    New gen coming?

    • For sure. I guess it is clear the mark up in terms of cost price Microsoft had on these machines, if they can let it go at this price now. I know it is older gen tech but still… its crazy.

  • No dgpu on this one?

  • This item is out of stock.

    • Nine sold after this post.

This price even cheaper than Surface Laptop.

      • its older though

  • Just curious having never used microsoft hardware, where do surface books and the surface laptop etc sit in the product line.

Im a typical laptop user and have always had a big bulky 15.6" asus from 2011 days as i use it like a replacement desktop. Been thinking of going slightly smaller i.e. 13 or 14" range to not lose too much screen size (to use as a desktop replacement still) but to gain those ultra portable weight and battery life stats. Based off that which microsoft product is more suited??

The prices seem really high for Microsoft products compared to alternative brands. I didnt need so much. A tablet or pen as i dont do creative work etc. It would be cool to have… incase of any ad hoc reasons, but are the surface books meant for that? I mean im happy to use it as a tablet but it's more a cool thing to have on say a plane than actually neccessity given its a desktop replacement at home essentially.

    • I use a Lenovo Yoga, and the market for the two are similar. They give you an ultra-lightweight and fully capable laptop, that is also purpose-built for touch interfaces. I believe all surface laptops come with a pen, and these can be fun, but unless you have a specific use for it, I don't really see the added value. Bottom line, if you want lightweight and portable, and will enjoy using it in tablet mode, these (or I highly recommend the yoga) are among the top, but if you're not bothered by these things, you can get a higher-spec computer for less if you look elsewhere.

      • I see, so if you typically use your laptop as a desktop replacement most days of the year, but the idea of a 'portable' laptop suits, would it be better not buying a surface line or getting a lenovo that isn't in the yoga line? As I assume the yoga line is more the 'fancy' ones that can go into tent mode, tablet mode, completely flip screen underneath the laptop etc - so you pay more for the functionality to use it as a tablet or with a pen?

Ideally it would be good a quality laptop at 13-15" that is lightweight, good battery life, but decent specs as i still use my 2011 asus n53sv , so lasting day to day use would be great.

DId worry the 'tablet' optionality was more a fad feature for someone who typically opens their laptop after/around work at home on a desk.

  • I think because the 8th generation cpu released. And it improved a lot so all the older cpu products on sale now
