  • Wow, I bought the same thing yesterday night from same seller at $135 + PLUS15.

    • which item?

      • https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-960-EVO-250GB-M-2-NVMe-P… Definitely was not referring to the 500gb haha

        • so how much did you paid yesterday? total price after discount code

and is the price $104 today better?

        • Yeah $114.75 yesterday vs $104 today. Didn't expect a new listing with cheaper price, though should have seen 20% discount code for SE coming.

    • Me too. Could’ve save $7.

      • Works out to a $10.75 loss for me. I think with EbayPlus you get free returns and a full refund… But seems like a dick move just for that small loss.

        • Yea CBF. Meh. Still a good price. Its already posted. So far these sales are killing me. Bought a R5 2600x, X470 aorus mobo, 16gb ram @ 3200, 750w PSU and now this NVMe for about $1000. Complete upgrade. Will look at the new Navi 10 cards to upgrade form the RX 480.

  • Need to use ebay Plus account as well to save $19.95 on shipping

Thanks =) updating title & description now

Free shipping is for eBay Plus members only. Otherwise shipping is $19.95.

    • Thanks =) done

$20 for shipping? What a joke.

  • +1

Free shipping is for eBay Plus members only. Please state that in title as to not be misleading thanks.

      Thanks =) done

  • Can anyone recommend a good NVMe to PCIe adaptor? I have this SSD and a Sabertooth X79 mobo and tried a cheapie $5 adaptor from ebay which didn't work (the SSD wasn't detected by the OS).

    • i'm using this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/182563822781?ViewItem=&item=182563822781&ppid=PPX000608&cnac=AU&rsta=en_AU(en_AU)&cust=9K73617528618483U&unptid=c2ddae72-bde2-11e7-bcbf-441ea14e1588&t=&cal=1f997124b1da0&calc=1f997124b1da0&calf=1f997124b1da0&unp_tpcid=email-receipt-auction-payment&page=main:email&pgrp=main:email&e=op&mchn=em&s=ci&mail=sys

seems to work so far, but haven't done any speed tests or anything

  • Just got one. Thanks OP

  • Only 250g on sale I need 500g

    • I've added their listing for the 500GB, 10 cents more than the most recent highly voted deal.

    • buy 2x 250gb for cheaper then the 500GB

      • +2

but only have 1 m2 port

      • The 250 doesn't perform as well

  • +10

Man this Ebay plus thing has really soured me to Ebay. I was a huge fan of Ebay until now.

    • +2

I wonder what the fees and terms and conditions are for the seller in terms of eBay Plus products. If it is fairer/lower or minimal fees for seller, it may allow sellers to equalise the price variance between their eBay platform and their own websites, while the delivery fees get absorbed by eBay (and eBay get their fees back from the eBay Plus subscription charges).

      • +2

Yeah, might be the gym membership, 'no surcharge for amex' and 'unlimited data' model, where I benefit from those who infrequently use the service :)

  • Just got two, thankyou OP.

    960 old stock - 970 rules

  • How much faster is this than a standard SSD. A kingston Sv300s37a 240 GB drive.

    Used in a desktop presently.

    • +1

      In Benchmarks, probably heaps.
In real life use, probably hardly noticeable….

      Watch some comparison videos.

Like raydragon said, the day to day real life usage is basically the same.
Depends what you're doing however. Can be really good for video editing software etc.

    • As someone mentioned in another thread, these things connect directly to the board so no need for cables, so that's another advantage

  • Would I benefit from adding a NVME drive to a 3 year desktop model? Obviously would need to add a something like a StarTech M.2 NGFF SSD to 2.5in SATA Adapter Converter (https://www.startech.com/au/HDD/Adapters/M-2-SSD-2-5-in-SATA…).

Would you still be limited to SATA speeds?

    • That adapter won't work with this SSD. You need a M.2 NVMe to PCIe adapter.

    • +2

If your motherboard doesn't have an m.2. slot, it's better not to bother with nvme.
Speed difference (real life) is marginal, for a whole lot more complexity to your build.
Just stick to a SATA drive such as the Sammy 860 EVO, which is a plug and play replacement for a standard HDD.

  • holy damn thats a hot price for the 500gb

  • Do these drives suffer from heating issues that plagued the SM951? www.legitreviews.com/samsung-sm951-512gb-m-2-pcie-ssd-review…

  • +1

    $126 for a 256GB 960 PRO OEM!!!
In 250/256GB form it takes this from one of the worst "high-end" NVME drives to one of the best.
You need the 500/1TB Evo drives to get decent performance in the real world, or move to a pro/SM drive.

Trust me, this drive is epic and has amazing sustained performance, i own many of them in many different sizes!
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-SM961-Polaris-256GB-M-2-…

    • What do you do about drivers/firmware for this?

Do you treat it like a 960 pro?

    • you own many, are you also the one selling? :P

  • Can get an ADATA XPG 8200 480gb from Scorptec for $248 which has been reviewing better than everything bar the 970 pro. It's just standard pricing but it's hard to justify buying a last gen Samsung as far as I am concerned but I can understand why others wouldn't want to take the risk on a traditionally "lesser" brand.

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Hard-Drives-&-SSDs/SSD-m…

  • Anyone using this or similar in a Synology ds918+?

  • Don't bother with the 250GB, terrible performance.
