Link to the cheaper price please? Otherwise it's an invalid neg vote.

      Appropriate uses of negative vote

      Cheaper price elsewhere
Mention store or URL and price making sure to include shipping.

      • +3

Pffft they never bother to link anything.

      • +4

How can he link to a price that was changed just before the discount was announced? It's time to make some more noise about this, not sure how much difference it will make, but the ACCC don't appear to be interested.

        • +2

Nickm said he bought it last week, there was no mention of buying just before the discount was announced.

As the voting guidelines state, you can't neg because it was cheaper in the past, it has to be cheaper elsewhere now.

    • A bit off topic, how do you find the heater?

      • +1

Heater is ok. Can't really compare it with much as I'm no expert. Smart functionality is ok. Says it works with Google Home. It doesn't

    Kogan pls…

  • Damn, just ordered a Vive Pro kit from Harvey Norman at $1799. DS with 20% off would have been $1617 delivered :(

    • +1

So just return the HN order

      • Good point.

      • You cannot just simply change your mind and return your order with HN.

Never had an issue just say Bought it for a gift they didn’t want it

  • Dick by Kogan. Anyone?

  • +10

I bought a Samsung tablet once from eBay listed "Brand new" a while ago and got a refurbished one. I never purchased from them again after that.

    • I had similar experiences with them before. Purchased something marked as "Brand New", but received the item without its original packaging.

      • +2

I purchased a damaged box item and got a faulty item marked with a DOA sticker.

    • +2

All the items from Hongkong are refurbished, don’t expect to get a brand-new one if you order something from a HK seller.

      • Yep pretty much. It's such a dodgy country. That place is the gathering place of all scams and money laundering

      • Since they are trading here do we have any recourse if we find an item is refurbed?

I've become weary of buying refurbed phones cos they usually have an issue with them to begin with that probably just gets tested and waved through as "pass" to be resold. This is sadly learnt from experience after a couple of dud refurb buys, so I'd purposely be after brand new here, for phones anyway.

At least with the local second-hand market (like various classifieds) there are some genuine "I've just upgraded so it's not used anymore" people.

For something I was looking at there were two listings: one from eZone, one from DSE. After PULL5 on one, and PICKSMITH on the other they were pretty much the same price, both know are grey import products. I would've thought DSE would be "safer" as a more local name but maybe not!

        • I don’t really like when they list the items and state that the items were opened to test before shipping out. Why open the brand-new item to test, that means the quality control of Samsung, Apple, HTC and other phones are bad and not reliable?

One time I even received a phone with the genuine label was still sealed the phone but the seal is also fake, the box is fake, so basically they repacked the items with their own packaging and selling as the brandnew items, ridiculous and the people are still buying those items at a cheap price and still happy with that.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

  • +22

Prices of at least 10 items I have seen have been jacked up significantly. Shame Dick Smith

    • +7

And yet the sheep follow blindly

    • +4

Why the negs?? hes correct tho haters..

      • +9

They negged my comment too. I don't understand why sharing my past experiences with Kogan is worth a neg

        • +3

          Because there's no presented evidence..

        • +1

@cwongtech: There are few examples down. I used to see same prices for most items in the past for Kogan, Dick smith and their ebay stores. Now a user reported item listed in DS store above RRP

Kogan was fined in the past for this.
Now looks like they are playing a different ball. jacking it in dicksmith ebay store and hopefully in dick smith website as well.

Few people will argue that stores pay for these sales, but come on.. $100 of difference for fee?
How come many stores dont jack prices during these sales. Hate Futu, SE and many other stores for these jacking. Total greed….

        • +2

@cwongtech: It's also really hard to present direct evidence as the prices have already been changed. It's not like I have prices of stores incase they have an eBay sale, but you know instinctively that it may have been increased.

        • @cwongtech: easy judge Judy..

        • @Gaggy:
The Kogan Mobile vouchers are a definite bargain..

        • @cwongtech: Yes, for now. They have been though sold for less though on their website and prices controlled by Kogan.

  • Do kogan sell any TVs with HDR? For my PS4 pro :)

    • The new oled one?

  • Can it be used for their mobile plans and is does their network stack up to optus?

    • They use Vodafone.

  • +4

No deals here, you’d be lucky to get a (edited)pic for free from Dick Smith.

  • Cheap LG 34" monitor $316.80 if they don't price jack

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-34-21-9-2560x1080-Full-HD-Ult…

    • -8

      It's been price jacked lol…

      • +4

        $316.80 is after 20% off.

        • +1

          plus $44 delivery

  • +7

Why so many upvotes, there are no bargains there…

  • I thought Kogan wasn't doing too well? Is that why the CEO had to sell $42 million woth of shares recently after failing to sell $100 million worth earlier this month.

    • +5

Playing with $42m - I don't know how that qualifies as not "doing too well. "

  • +1

    anytyhing actually gud?

  • 15 inch Mac book Pro with touch bar down to $2800?

  • Disappointed the code isn't PICKARSE.

Pricejack city … went and looked up a 2018 iPad 128GB at Dick Smith … $699 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPad-2018-128GB-Wi-Fi-Silv… … a full $100 more than the $599 RRP on Apples website. https://www.apple.com/au/ipad/compare/ … so it comes down to $559 after the $140 discount. Still cheaper than RRP but really dilutes the 'value' of the 20pc off.

  • +3

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kogan-65-4K-LED-TV-Series-8-JU80… - $988 on Dick Smith ebay
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-65-4k-led-tv-series-8-ju8… - $899 on Kogan

However do a google search (or bing, for that matter) for Kogan 65 4K LED and even Google still shows the current price as $799. Which is what I was going to buy it for last night (add on a $20 off $400 and it's still cheaper than the dickie smith "sale"). They only just changed it.

So screw Kogan, I'm going to go buy my TV from JB purely out of spite (and because I want HDR)

  • +3

Nintendo Switch sitting at $50 over rrp.

  • +5

Even after the sale the prices are crap.
Positive votes for the discount. Negative vote for the final price after discount applied…

  • I'm just here for the neg, cause I hate my guts with retailer's price jacking practice like this

    • +5

Geez there's no need to hate yourself over it.

Maybe have a cup of tea, a Bex and a good lie down.

  • +1

It was better for DSE brand to die than getting stuck with a bogan

  • I'm just here to read the dick jokes

    • Dick had been in some tight spots before but is now relegated to selling product for street price. Bonus herpes

  • i'd prefer the code "DICKO"

When will OzB's learn about eBay crap % off store sales.

Bargains are only on junk they want to clear or those where the seller forgot to mark up the price prior to the sale.

Pity there is no site that captures all of eBay pricing over a period a time so any customer can see the trend themselves.

If the ACCC were half competent or if eBay was half decent they would display the manufacturers RRP and the price range that the seller has listed the item for in the past.

    • Agreed. These sales should be banned on OzB.

    • +2

Bargains are only on junk they want to clear or those where the seller forgot to mark up the price prior to the sale.

There are genuine bargains (like the kogan mobile 365 vouchers)

If the ACCC were half competent or if eBay was half decent they would display the manufacturers RRP and the price range that the seller has listed the item for in the past.

Yeah, it's called being professional and being an aware OzBargainer.
It's not our duty to protect the stupid from falling victim to "OMG SALES".
      Stand down soldier.
Buy whatever is cheap, and let the unprofessionals pay the stupid tax (for not checking historical prices).
You can check the previously sold prices.. by pressing the "Sold" button on ebay.
If it's a popular item, you can also check OzBargain listings.

Really shouldn't have to spoonfeed people with bargains, that's no fun.

  • +1

What's their warranty like if something comes from HK? Will have to pay GST no? Urgh.

  • I'm getting a "You've entered this code too many times" message.

    • never mind, just noticed it starts at 10am!

  • -1

    Repost …..

  • I'm assuming if >$1000 GST is payable if shipped from HK?

Do you get an Australian invoice for TRS?

  • +2

It's all grey imports?! I thought Dick Smith would be AU stock still despite being owned by Kogan. How can they justify jacking up prices when they basically have a warehouse model given they are under the Kogan umbrella and have had stores close too…

  • Acer Predator X34P here shipped for $1325 ($1280 if you can pick up), cheapest on staticice is $1499.

    • stock removed :|

      • Dog act. I got my order in, they better not cancel it…

        • +1

Got mine in earlier too for the AOC AGON AG322QCX before they removed it. Paid straight away and no sign of cancel, fingers crossed (I think they will honour it).

        • @dangercharlie: dogs! Was going to buy this as well

  • For those that missed the HTC Vive from the Microsoft store deal, Dickies deal is nearly as good @ $694.40 + $18.21 postage:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HTC-Vive-VR-Headset-99HALN006-00…

    • +1

Also interesting is that we watched for pricejacking on this one… Dickies didn't jack it, but the Kogan eBay store did. Wonder if their IT guy jacked the wrong listing.

  • +2

lol almost all gaming laptops are removed at ~11am. nice "deal" dicksmith
I bet the stocks would be back as soon as the deals are over

  • Got an email to use TAXTIME to get 10% discount on kogan website, might be better price to buy direct?

  • Sony In-Ear Sports Noise Cancelling Headphones with Bluetooth for $127.20 plus delivery.

  • +3

Dicksmith seem to have Australian prices for grey imports…

  • +4

if your unable to find a bargain during this sale, you are doing something wrong.

I have found heaps, plus products i purchase for my business are cheaper than my wholesale cost. so loaded up there too.

    • Meh, didn't see any TV deals that are any better than what Kogan have offered in the past.

  • Bought a surface book i5/8gb/256GB for $999….i think that was pretty decent?

  • Is it possible to get a further student discount on any of the macbooks? $999for the macbook air seems pretty reasonable to me

  • Yeah I was watching security cam systems, no price jack on them, makes for a great price on some!

  • -2

Ohhhh the Logitech g502 mouse is like $103 after the discount, while it's $79 everywhere else! So good! Editing this to say I love your work TA, but DS/Kogan on eBay can suck a nut.

  • I want to buy an iPad, however, it says that it ships from Hong Kong. A friend advised that with the GST changes coming in next week, I might have to pay GST for this when I pick up from the Post Office. Is this right?

    • If it's over $1k then the normal import duty applies. If it's under $1k then you shouldn't have a problem (eBay will charge the GST only from 1st July onwards - customs don't do anything with under $1k which has already had the GST paid at the point of sale).

  • Well that's great, the pencils I wanted to buy have been jacked up 30+ %

  • +1

Are they safe to buy from? They have the Dyson v10 absolute stick vacuum for $200 off?

  • +1

These two acer monitors all of a sudden disappeared (not sales)

    ACER 38 inch
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-38-21-9-3440x1440-QHD-Ultra…

    and its little brother

    ACER 34 Inch
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-34-21-9-3440x1440-QHD-Ultra…

    Also no sales.

    That's not cool.

Thinking about giving DS a thumbs down.

  • Didn't DSE/Kogan refuse to participate in ebay deals again following complaints about price jacking?

  • I wonder why Dick Smith items are not eBay Plus items

  • Holy crap Google home mini for $62? i just saw at officeworks their normal price is $48 now.

  • They just pulled all their DJI Drones… i.e. They removed them from eBay…
