Konka 55" OLED Smart 4K HDR TV - $1,599.20 + Postage @ Dick Smith / Kogan on eBay

PICKSMITH

This post will be sure to rustle some feathers. Kogan's 55" OLED TV for $1599.20 with the 20% off code.

Is it any good? No idea, can't find any reviews. I do believe this is a rebadged Konka OLED (info here http://www.konka.com.hk/product/index.html). Perhaps if you're interested, one could figure out the corresponding model on the Konka website then look for reviews for that model.

I would rather pay the extra for the LG/Sony/Panasonic etc.

I would rather see one of these units reviewed before outright declaring it useless. That's the real issue here.

      • I was hoping one of the tech blogs would have bought one and reviewed it by now, but that hasn't happened yet

    • Well.. possibly yeah. It's probably the same panel as all the others, maybe worse image processing, I doubt you'd notice. But you're buying a Smart OS as part of the package.. at least the LG one is fairly good. And if it's only $100 more (it was for me, but more like $200-$300 recently) then I would too.

But that's not to say the Konka isn't good. We just don't know.

It looks identical to this, I'd say they are all rebranded models from the same factory:

    https://www.avforums.com/review/electriq-55-oled-review.1495…

Does OK with some room for improvement through updates, if they ever come. Might have different software on it for each rebrand though, so this is more for the hardware side of the TV.

    • I'd suggest Konka have their own tweaks on colour reproduction, and as they've been around a lot longer, are probably more adept at the process than Electriq.

Interesting to learn that it's effectively a 2017 LG OLED panel.

Why bother though? The JB in Waurn Ponds had a Sony 55KD8500E in store for 1188 after the 15% discount they have going atm.
    55inch 4K UHD, 120hz, android TV.

Because its an LCD TV and not OLED? After buying my OLED TV, I would never buy another LCD TV again.

  • interested to see if anyone jumps on this deal, i just want to hear anyones review of local stock, no write ups about in on whirlpool or here since its release.

Yeah would rather the B7 LG when it was $1699 still too much for Kogan garbage..
