I've been told the 'newish' terminal 6 has wifi now and is semi-respectable, but I'd still prefer to avoid LAX if at all possible.
Did this flight in April and had no complaints with the Air China service. For a family of four, we got SYD - NYC return for $3500. We did a layover tour in Beijing to fill in the 10 hour layover on the way home - worked really well. https://www.beijinglayovertour.com/beijing-airport-layover-t…
8.5-19 hours layover in Beijing landing at 4:30AM in the morning and 7 hour layover coming back, landing at 6:40PM. Yikes. Maybe good for a day exploring in Beijing. However, you are bypassing LAX which is a positive.
