Maylands IGA Xpress - Closing down Sale - Buy One Item Get The Second Item Free [WA]

120

MAYLANDS IGA X-press will be closing its doors tomorrow, unable to compete with the major supermarket players, a drop in foot traffic and a downward economy.

The store is located in the Station Shopping Village on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Whatley Crescent.

The store is running a buy one and get the second item free special, as all stock needs to be cleared.

Couldn't complete with iga being walking distance. Coles too.

  • I find it a little bit sad to see the small stores go.

I don't. Ripoff pricing always, they were good when Perth didn't have late night trading on weekdays or Sunday trading, and less 24 hour stores.

I don't know, probably can't compete with large vendors for volume hence greater prices (eg forcing distributors to take less like Coles and Woolies do), clearly not making that much money or wouldn't be shutting down.

She was trying to say that in December she had plenty of customers. The paragraph in between those two makes it clearer what she meant.

“From January 1, a lot of people shifted to the eastern states and this affected my business.

  • "and a downward economy."
