      Not after the "Complimentary valet wash". It removes most of the salt.

  Not sure how it adds up, if you did it at home yourself that's $70 for a minor service with decent oil, and not the junk that most shops use.

      they're cooked mate, even using RRP on oils you're still under $100 (oil, filter, sump plug washer)

    You're not just paying for their parts and labour. You're paying for the years of experience that comes with servicing cars. This applies to any industry really.

    Say for example you have a major IT problem that an experienced engineer can identify and fix in 15 mins. The knowledge to be able to do it in 15 mins is what you're paying for.

    Not everyone has the inclination or ability to service their own car.

      It's an oil/filter change, not rocket science. Take it to your regular mechanic for 1/2 the price.

        Any good servicer also does a safety check on parts. Do most people have the ability to do that?

        My point is, you can't price a service based soley on the parts.

        It's also a requirement on new cars to get authorised services to retain warranty.

        That's not true and illegal under Australian consumer law… Even Apple lost on this recently…

  pay for them to advertise rope you in and then charge you through the @$$. You'll definitely end up with a lube job
