Samsung Galaxy S8 (AU Stock, Midnight Black) $799 @ Allphones.com.au (Officeworks Pricematch $759)

70

Hi there, this deal was so good (edit: have been told it's not that great compared to online prices) I had to share after I picked up one myself.

I saw the cheap price on allphones.com.au and wondered if I could get someone to pricematch it. I went to JB HiFi (had a gift card) but the guy there said that it was too cheap -below their desired profit margin I imagine- so he refused to price match it.

So I went down to my local officeworks store and walked out paying $759.05 instead of $988. This is even better than the 20% off Good Guys deal which came to $790 I believe. (Edit- I may have just gotten lucky and they may not pricematch normally because its Optus branded.)

Hope this helps someone.

Sorry to say OP, $799 is not a good price for this phone. Take a look at the other S8 deals that have been posted

Yes I was looking around on eBay but it’s not always easy to find AU stock and when you do you have to hope there’s a coupon. A lot of those deals were from the 15% eBay plus deal which not everyone has joined. Sometimes you don’t want to wait for the postman too :) but that’s true what you said, just harder to find in store.

    Network Lock Unlocked
    Network Branding Optus

They should't have honoured the pricematch as it has network branding. I think you just got lucky on this occasion.

    • Haha wow. Is it worth someone else giving it a shot or should I take down the OW part of the title?

    Price matching is not bargain.

  • I cant get myself to spend more than $667 for an S8 (not AU stock) since last year June's deal. The value of this phone has upheld pretty damn well.

  • Geezus $760 for a phone that's almost a year and a half old! Would not put this much on the S8 considering S9 imports are nearing this price… OS Update support will end in 6 months for it!!!!!

  • Try this one for Price matching.

    • Is that one a Grey colour or a Grey import lol?

LOL - It is Grey because it is almost obsolete/out of stock/validity/being a young persons phone.

Doesn't everyone glove their phone nowadays anyway?

However - look at me - rocking an iPhone 4 (not even the (s))

        Discussed at this deal

    • Unfortunately they wouldn't pricematch it. Besides the colour differences mentioned by others, the warranty doesn't match up. Allphones offers Australian 24 month manufacturer warranty which is why Officeworks will price match with them.

I got an S9 for this price in the eBay Plus deals a week ago.

    • Wowsers! Good on you. Even if it was a grey import thats a great deal. Please impart your ozbargain wisdom upon me. :)

I think basics would be don't pay near full price on 1.5 generation old devices that are nearing end of OS support.

Ebay 10-15% deals are fantastic for local stock deals. There are often specials on these.

Example, buy a used AU phone, as most people put a case on it anyway. Can get a near new S8 for $557.99 delivered. Buy a case and screen protector and it will be like new.

        • Thanks for taking the time to share that. I'll definitely keep that in mind.
