        I'll drink to that…

  • Is this sweet at all?

    • maybe you're after cordial ?

    • sweet enough to notice, a bit smokey and oily. always around $100 normally.
If you go through Singapore, they have them for $60 1L bottle. best value dram for that!

      • Great! Will give it a whirl!

        • Have you tried a peated whisky before? Just checking cos they're certainly not to everyone's taste.

@simulacrum: Thanks mate, but yea love em. I spent a whole 5 seconds researching whisky and learned about peat very quickly. Not sure how some people can get these Islay whiskies and be surprised by peat lol - especially when whisky ain't cheap!

        • @OnlinePred: Yeah I've seen it happen.. boggles the mind! Now that I look at your username, I have a feeling we've discussed whisky here before haha!

        • @simulacrum: Haha nice! How's your whisky travels going?

I haven't ventured too far from Islay, I have decided I want some sweeter whiskies as I love sweeter drinks - so looking at distiller editions aged in port casks after trying the talisker port rougue which I loved. I want to try some more non peaty whiskies too, I had a really nice one at a bar but I forgot what it was called - was smooth and slightly sweet but really full bodied.

        • @OnlinePred: Haven't been drinking much to be honest. I always suggest that peeps into peat wanting to branch out should look into heavily sherried stuff. Glendronach 15 is nice (though even the 12 is pretty good and much cheaper).

Last time I was drinking I was getting into the Springbank stuff (incl longrow and hazelburn) as well. I think my favourite unpeated stuff for a long time was the mortlach flora and fauna 16 yo bottling

        • @simulacrum: Oh nice thanks mate! The Glendronach 15 sounds great! Where do you get your whiskys? Glendronach looks to be sold out everywhere I looked.

        • @OnlinePred: Usually wherever I find a sale, or www.nicks.com.au Sometimes when ebay hasa decent deal you can pick some decent stuff up interstate… but yeah i'm not buying much these days so my collection has been dwindling!

I like to go for the Singleton of Duffmore for a less savoury whiskey. Then kick it up a notch warmed with honey.
