Two Free 4K/UHD Movies on Google Play if You Own a Sony Bravia 2017/18 Android TV

250

Sign in to the Google Play Movies and TV app on a Sony Bravia 2017 or 2018 UHD TV and an offer pops up to receive two free UHD movies from a selection of 20 or so. Buy, select the UHD version, and the price goes to zero when checking out (make sure it does before you complete; you buy two separately).

This seems to not be advertised here in Australia; indeed it says it's US only but it worked for me. I wasn't even aware of it until I found it messing around with my TV (an X9000E, so it seems more models are included than the terms state).

  • Saw this the other day, but I could only get one free. Got Blade Runner 2049!

Shoot a complaint through to [email protected] with a link to https://www.sony.com.au/electronics/android-tv-google-play-o…

They should give you a code for a second movie.

      • Tried using the Google Play Support email address you shared but gmail doesn't recognise it. Any chance you might know if there's an alternative email contact as I tried searching their support page and couldn't find one?

        • Damn, odd that email isn't working. There's the live chat or call back options in Google Play store help/feedback which is where I started my complaint.

They gave me the American promo code with only works for one movie per account so I'm still following up to get the second movie… They don't make this easy..

  • This is a few months old and this was advertised with my Sony TV when I bought it and received x 2 movies.

    Cool, retrograde freebie for me!

    thanks
redeemed now to remember to go and pick a couple of movies at some stage (not exactly the most amazing options ;) )

Nothing showing for me, though pretty sure my TV is from 2016 if not earlier (KD65X7500D) so much so I can't even see any UHD movies listed on the Google Movies and TV App

Same with me, same tv, just had a look

      • Me three. No idea why our 4k smart TVs don't play UHD Google Play content?

      • Same here

  • Open to participants who purchase and activate any size, applicable TV: A1E, A8F, X900F, X850F, X830F, X800E

    • Give it a go though. Mine's not on the list (X900E) but it still worked.

      • Mine is a D

    • Also X9300e, X9400e & X9000e.
On my x9300e it said you have to purchase the TV before the end of July 2018…
      Maybe they extended the offer.
All the movies available are from Sony/Columbia Pictures.

  • Guess i'll have to watch 4k on netflix

Dam I can't see it on my TV. Given it is a 2016 model but I feel like the Z9D should have been included in this promotion.

  • Got a 2017 930E and it isn't coming up at all.

    Suggestions???

EDIT: I suppose it won't work because I already redeemed the first free movie a few months ago. When I clicked on that banner again on the menu it said 'two' free movies this time, but in Google Movies it doesn't have any promo section unfortunately…

Contact Google Play movies support and tell them direct them to the Sony Bravia promotion page with terms and conditions attached. Google is the promoter of the offer and are ultimately responsible for it.

They've given me two codes to use because the offer wasn't showing on my tv either.

      • Thanks for that. Whenever I schedule Google support to call me back, they do it immediately but then say there's nobody available to help me.

Is this the route you used? Or did you email?

      • So yeah I finally got them to call me, and she kept saying that I need a 'promotion code' despite my repeat insistence that, as it even says on the promotional page itself, it will just come up in the app itself without any prompting.

She said she will call me back which I very much doubt.

        • I got a follow up after the first live chat person had no idea what to do after wasting half an hour. They keep referring to an American promo rather than the Australian one…the second code they gave me didn't work because you can only use the promo once per account.

Hopefully they figure this out. Sony should've just gone with a redemption code.

        • @alcheron: Yeah the second person I talked to was supposedly following it up with the guarantee that I'll get the promotion working, but they haven't gotten back to me.

That's fine, I'll just hassle them again tomorrow until they work it out. I can't believe it's this difficult for them to work out.

  • Redeemed my first quite a few months ago, went to get bladerunner today, but have been charged to full amount? Weird.

    • Let me know how the refund process goes!
