Bayonet Smart Globe - Recommendations

Hi guys,

I have some bayonet globes in the bedrooms at my place that im looking to swap out for smart globes. I am looking for recommendations on a globe that isn't going to break the bank, whilst the LIFX globes look great they are a bit too pricey.

Thanks

You have ruled out Xiaomi's with adapters?

I agree, that's exactly what I have. My old house only has bayonets so I just bought 30x 80c adapters and now I'm set. Yeelights are 600 lumens if you can still buy the white ones, otherwise the new ones are 800 lumens, you might as well buy colour because of the additional cost.

Xiaomi also sells smart down lights.

      • Nice!

Could you link me to the adapters as im not quite sure what I need/am looking for. I am certainly not apposed to adapters at all. I have three bed rooms with bayonets and the rest of the house are all the screw in globes. Eventually I would like them all to be smart lights so I can arrange for the hall lights to come on prior to arriving home etc. I'm sure there are probably some other cool things I can do with them as well.

        • Ebay search for b22 to e27 adapter. If those are the correct sizes for you (the above are the standard sizes).

Only issue is the adapters add a bit of length.

          Thanks! I appreciate the help.

    Try Aliexpress

  • Only options for good quality ones I can think of are LIFX, Phillips Hue and Xiaomi, with Phillips Hue and LIFX being higher quality than the xiaomi.

LIFX often go on sale, not sure about the other two.

    • LIFX in my experience can be a pain in the backside…. tho the integrated wifi is nice. I think its the software side mostly.

      • Yeah, I agree. The hardware is great, the software can suck. Their API is pretty reliable though, and I used to enjoy using it for things like MaxLifx for when watching videos, it adjusts the colour of your lights to the colour of your screen and has a bunch of customisation options. The room I'm in now has 4 downlights though, and I don't think it's worth forking out the money for it, especially as these light sockets don't like most LEDs.
