So much potential, so little reward.

    • +4

Yeah they went backwards from 3 and Vegas.

      • +1

Still need to play those :/

        • 1&2 completed then? :)

        • +1

          @Lukian:
Then theres the F2 Restoration Project
Finally had closure in that Sulik found what he was searching for

        • @Lukian: also those

      • +1

        Agreed.
New Vegas is the my favourite. The variety of factions, characters and locations made it superb.
Fallout 3 was cool with Liam Neeson and destroying Megaton was awesome.
Fallout 4 was ok. Hated settlement building. Even collecting parts for the main storyline was a real drag.
Also the minutemen sucked. Preston: "I've marked your map, now go save that settlement in the name of the minutemen, even though you're the only one that does anything around here. The rest of us are going to stay back to find more settlements for you to help".

    • +2

Load it up with mods and build a kick ass settlement. That's something I enjoyed heaps compared to 3/NV.

      • 3 and NV had great mods.

Settlement building is terrible in Fallout 4.

And I'm someone who loves building games.

        • +1

Once the settlement building was modded it was excellent. Heaps better than what 3 and NV offered in comparison to settlement building.

        • The NPCs in F4 are shit too, so cliche
The morally upright reporter, minutemen, inflexible BOS, and syth smugglers

        • @payton: I couldn't avoid the reporter. I saw her and was like "nah"… turns out there's not much to do if you avoid her.

The worst part of Fallout 4 to me was the power suits. They felt so clunky, useless. I played the game entirely without using it. It's like a boring easy mode.

        • +1

@Clear: Well there was 0 in those games.

        • @StoneSin: They had mods for it but weren't very good.

      • Yeah. They spent a lot of time making the sim city aspect of the game, so if you're not making use of that it significantly cuts down the enjoyment of the game

  • +9

Would have bought if its GOTY Ed

    • Same.

    • This needs to be in the description… NOT Game of The Year Edition!

The Game of the Year Edition includes all the extras you definitely want with this game. The plain vanilla version is probably worth $10 on its own anyway… and addons is where the real value is.

  • +3

Decent price (secondhand is about $9) - I don't think we'll see better than the BOGOF deal with AMAZON20 for a while though - managed to get Steep/Fallout4/Batman Arkham Knight and FarCry Primal for $20 delivered total (so avg. $5/game).

    • Bwoah. Good loot there.

    • yeah the BOGOF was a good sale.. I bought lots of older games and console accessories thanks to that sale.

    • I enjoyed FC:Primal so much I now dont enjoy any other FarCry

  • +5

Heads up for Xbox people, Fallout 4 is on gamepass.

  • +2

The fallout from this bargain is going to be massive!

  • If you like Fallout, just buy it. $10 for it a great price and add-ons are not really worth the money.

    • Theres heaps of them tho, some of them add to the story

      • I have played Automatron add-on and I like. The GOTY is at $34 on cdkeys.com. I would just buy the add-ons which are worth or the season pass.

    • I disagree. The addons ARE worth the money.
Greatly increase the replayability and storyline.

    • I've been waiting for Far Harbor to go on sale on the PS Store. Would've definitely bought this if it were GoTY Ed.

  • What do you guys think about Vault 76?

    • if you mean Fallout 76, it is not even on beta. I would be wary, they already tried to make of Fallout 4 a cash cow, and Fallout 76 will be "online". Makes me think about Battlefront 2… hopefully it won't be the same fate.

      • StarWars: Lootcrate?

        • Yes, usually called "microtransactions"

    • Ofc microtranstion … But isn't that EA thingy?

  • +1

I could get this or 10 $1 McD Sundae… life is tough

    • if you have the $10 video credit, you could buy this and 10x $1 Sundaes…becareful of diabetes tho

    • Why not get both? insert Mexican music

      • ¿por qué no los dos?

  • So I have tried like 6 times to get into fallout 4, and just a few weeks ago it finally 'clicked' I did more of the settlement stuff, sort of based myself there and built it up, then went out and made my own fun with random side quests and raider camps. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be (even though it took me 6 goes to get into it lol).

  • Keep in mind this no longer comes with the Fallout 3 code contrary to the picture. I bought it from amazon before and it didn’t have F3.

    • Which picture shows that it comes with FO3?

  • +1

Make sure you open the game case carefully as the disc may fallout

  • I actually really enjoyed this and wasn't so into 3 or NV.

This can actually be played as a shooter in real time for at least part of the game, whereas 3 and NV had me using the pause shot from the start of the game.

It's a bit dated now, but I thought this game was epic anyway.

Bought and loved every Fallout from the start. As soon as they came out. Each one had its own merits and was ground breaking in some way.
All of them told a story (some better than others) that was at least somewhat consistent.
All of them had great features, especially for their time.
FO4 was the best blend of builder, shooter and RPG ever (possibly still is) BUT only thanks to the huge and prolific modding community but, that was thanks to the opportunity provided by Bethesda in building such a moddable game.
And with new free mods still coming out frequently, what? three years later and regular updates to most of the best mods of all time as well, there is so much replay-ability and new content, it is amazing.
The paid modding change killed the game for many people but, again not for those who ignored it and continued to use the free mods (and hopefully donated to and supported the ones they liked).
I have well over a thousand hours up on FO4 (imagine how far through an online degree I could have got with that much effort!) and have built, rebuilt, replaced or downloaded a mod for every part of the game and the game map (locations) including scrapping by hand, thousands of pieces of trash and junk (some of them ten times over).
If considering the value for money (expressed in hours of enjoyment for the cash) I got from buying the Collectors edition with pip boy for my son and the Season pass edition for myself, I would say it has been the best of all time for me with Skyrim and Company of Heroes 1 coming up next.
Yes the paid mods was a sad turn and yes FO76 will likely go even further down that path but, we wouldn’t have had this brilliant experience without Bethesda and the modders in the first place. You can’t expect that corporations won’t follow the money but, you can chose what you support with your cash and what you don’t.
And remember SimCity was dead and Train Fever was a disaster - FO4 really filled a gap!
If you read all this then thanks. If you agree then, thanks and if you don’t then, that’s why we live in a free country.

  • What's everybody's opinions on the dlc and season pass etc if this has one. Definitely want to pick up all the fallouts including 4 but wondering if best to wait for a goty edition or ultimate deluxe bundle or something.

Loved fallout 1 and 3. Honestly can't remember if I even played 2.

    • I actually need to finish Fallout 2. I was about halfway through, doing missions for the MAFIAA in Vegas (you would remember that if you played it). It was the only game where you could own a car, which was great for horders.

      • Check out fallout online reloaded.. multiplayer online fallout.

Just tried it today only a ~580mb install if you don't have fallout 2 cd.

Register in game not on the website (unless you want a forum account).

Deaths don't reset level or drop all your items afaik only one minute respawn time.

Fully multiplayer, can form parties sorta (it's very not ui or game mechanic friendly but it works somewhat) and group quest or group grief haha lol.

Still in heavy development so new features being released all the time.

Basically like a private wow server so can pick up where you left off etc and best of all it is totally free.

Played for about 2-3 hours as a total fallout 2 newbie was really funny got rekt asap by super mutants 10/10 would get rekt again.
