Personal Experience - Thoughts
I personally own this camera and use it primarily for Video, here is an example if you're interested, from my trip last year to Switzerland of what it can produce video wise.
I'm not a photographer, hence owning a Point and shoot. Some people compare it up with the Sony RX line, where there's a current front page deal available for Sony CyberShot RX100M3 $554.20 as both have good Full HD Video (photo wise, some comments in that post say the Sony is better for photo's).

My Fav Features are its Touchscreen, which allows easy focus pulls whilst filming by just touching the subject (can be seen in the opening sequence of demo video), USB Charging by plugging micro USB into camera (battery is removable too) and the Wi-Fi, which allowed me to transfer Standard or Full Definition Photo's and Video's from the camera straight to my Phone by connecting to the Camera's inbuilt Wi-Fi (INCREDIBLY HANDY when travelling).

  • Damn! This is irresistible price now.

    Edit: It's showing '100% claimed' though. 🤔

    • OMG it's gone

      • Yeah. You might need to expire the deal, unfortunately.

        • yeap I've updated it, that was way quicker than I was expecting!

        • @camshandez: Did you buy one? It might have already been 100% claimed by the time you saw it.

        • @AussieDaddy: I Already have one (mini review in the post) so didn't need it. I wonder if any OzBargainer got one

      • Have you colour graded the video, or your clips are straight out of the camera?

    • Don't worry, you dodged a bullet. Get the RX100 MIII for a similar price. However, the picture quality will be tons better, especially in the daylight.

  • 100% claimed already?

  • +3

Up voted for your concise and detailed review/post

      thanks, I added

read on if you feel like seeing a big post that would have taken longer to read than the deal being sold out hahaha…

      to the update haha

  • +3

Up vote for the effort that went into the post.

  • holy craps it's gone!

  • This was sold out by the time ozbargain pushed the notification to my browser.

How many were in stock, 10? haha.

    • Yeah it was ridiculously quick, I had the post pre-written as I love my G7X MkII and saw the effort in it… by the time I grabbed the price from Amazon AU, inserted it into the new deal page, clicked Post on OzB, clicked through to Amazon to verify my link worked it was 100% claimed!!!

Either very low stock, or a lot of Canon Point and Shoot fans out there waiting.

  • Your vid looks good! Do you use a gimbal?

    • Thank you :D!!

No I use the ol' fashion camera strap, where you put your elbows locked on your hips, pull down hard on the strap and use the fold out screen at horizontal orientation to look down onto. Then in post, about a 2-5% WarpStabiliser in Adobe AfterEffects on any clips which had some shake.

I do own a Zhiyun Tech Smooth Q Gimbal which I modified to hold my G7X shown here This eliminates the need for warp stabiliser, But covers the LCD screen so lining up shots is impossible, so it's just good for general "point and shoot" use.
You can see what it worked out like stabilisation wise in this video timestamped link at 0:36 > 0:55 where i've done no stabilisation in post.

  • Thumbs up for the effort. Unfortunately, there were only 5 in stock. Noted under the deal price, https://www.amazon.com.au/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%…

    • That's 5 left after the deal is done? It says 3 left now.

      • Yeah I don't think that's stock level of during deal but more so currently like Lukian said.

        • my apologies

        • @simmy: no apology needed, it's very plausible they did only have 5 with how quick they went, so can see why you would have thought that

  • +1

I got this one before. It has pretty slow autofocus and writing HDR takes a long time.

  • These amazon deals has become a bit of a joke, so many items sold out within mins………

  • Haha you been amazoned.
